Hey hey I have good reasons lol First I was supposed to win Monaco but my PC crashed with 3 laps to go when I was on the lead with a very good margin but I did have a good share of bad luck this season too but Nick with his 2 years of practice with the new "style" of the game there isn't much I can do. My 10+ years old G27 isn't helping me either now.

Good job and congrats Nick !! Welcome to the World Driver Champions league now ;) I think I've been a good teammate this year and assumed my 2nd driver role well just like Kimi  We got the constructors too !

I know you guys want to follow the F1 scoring system but for next season, can we extend the points down the field? So 10th place gets 1 point, can we make it so 15th place gets 1 point and then move up from there? Two reasons why I think this would be a good idea.

1. It'll have more people stay in the race after a wreck. It sucks when people leave after a wreck because they have no chance of getting any points. There is no point in racing if you can't get 10th or better, the drive to push is gone.

2. First place will get 25 points still but it'll narrow the gap which means it's still anyones race for the championship. It'll push people to practice and stay in it. Half way through the season, my goal was to finish in the top 10 because I wouldn't get near the top 5. Spreading the points out can make it a tighter race for any position. PLUS, it'll mean getting penalized by the stewards could cost you, it would make people more careful I think.

I like this idea Chris and I'm all for it! But we need to make a poll in that regard. I share the same thought as you... A lot may disconnect if they have no chance of getting any points.

i think its a good idea to give points to more position.. like deadzero said, even if you crash, u can still be in the race to score points.

Firstly, i will say that i think it should stay the way it is but i have still gone and made a example of what the system looks like in order for everyone to see what a possibility could be.

If we are to add points for more people i feel we would need to totally redo the points system. If the gap between 10th and 14th place is too small then each position u gain would not be very significant. Also i believe that even giving points up to 14th is stretching it as it gives points to more than half the drivers. If we let people even further get back get points then even if u race terribly u would get points which i do not agree with. For this list i double the current points of all current finishing positions, with some slight adjustments to some of the values near the bottom of the points list.

1st - 50
2nd - 36
3rd - 30
4th - 24
5th - 20
6th - 16
7th - 12
8th - 10
9th - 8
10th - 6

11th - 4
12th - 3
13th - 2
14th - 1

The problem with the points system you propose Zephyr, it's that all DNF drivers are more penalize, especially the top runner.

Well the reason I'm suggesting to stretch the points is to keep more people in the race and raise the competitive level. Giving 1st 50 points is extreme. For the slower guys like me, finishing in the back would allow even the slowest or inconsistent drivers to be competitive. Say if I'm good at one track but bad at others, at least I would feel like I have a chance with the point system I suggest.

I would have it like this

1st - 28
2nd - 24
3rd - 22
4th - 20
5th - 18
6th - 16
7th - 14
8th - 12
9th - 10
10th - 8
11th - 5
12th - 4
13th - 3
14th - 2
15th - 1

Not a perfect point system but something like that where it's closer together. It'll get people to attend more races than to have some not even show up sometimes

Also, I finished 6/7th 3 times and I the points I got don't feel like I made a difference in the standings. Getting double digits in the top 10 feels good to me

i dont like this system at all because there is barely a difference between the top 4 drivers. Look at the current system. The gap they have to the person below them is big. The problem with ur system Deadzero, is that finishing in the top doesnt reward people enough compared to finishing further back. For example, the difference between 1st and 3rd is ten points in comparison to only 6 here. Also getting 1st is supposed to have a big bonus in points. In my system (excluding 9th-14th) all i did was double the points. So it is the same gap u would have in normal formula 1. U are saying 50 points is too much yet that is exactly what  we have now except u make every 1 point now = 2 points

edit : another example is that finishing 7th twice is the same as finishing 1st, which is absolutely ridiculous

Well this way is to prevent a TOTAL DOMINATION by one person like this season.

Well, imo if someone wins the majority of races it should be TOTAL DOMINATION!!!!!!!!!! Winning a race should have a big bonus in terms of points.

If I had to pick an alternative, then I would do this:

Points
1st : 25 points
2nd : 18 points
3rd : 15 points
4th : 12 points
5th : 11 points
6th : 10 points
7th : 9 points
8th : 8 points
9th : 7 points
10th : 6 points
11th: 5 points
12th: 4 points
13th: 3 points
14th: 2 points
15th: 1 points

Reasons being that 1st should have a heaviest weight as you are winning the race and the Podium guys should have the next.  I think that current F1 gets that right.  After that it can skew down evenly to accomodate more people.  That might be the best middle road solution.  Sorry if someone already said this one!

As my edit says, that system gives WAY too many points to the backrunners. Lets say Driver1 does great and wins a race. He does very good and it took a lot of skill to win. Driver2 only finishes 7th because of lack of pace/mistakes. Driver1 gets taken out or crashes next race while running in good position and then Driver2 again is slow and or makes mistakes. According to the points this would mean they are same skill/results. Getting 7th twice is not as hard as getting a 1st place and therefore it should not be the same amount of points.
