Just a heads up for this one, the official race for this is a morning session.  Since we have a 3 hr practice we do not want the majority of it to be at night. Race start should be around 9:45am.  See below for reference.

Once again, I'm going to have to withdraw from the race tomorrow. This is the 2nd week in a row that I couldn't race. If I can't make it to next weeks race, I'm going to ask to withdraw from the Series at least for this season. Good luck to everyone for tomorrow.

Nice race guys, nice win Greg.

I would like to clarify the starting procedure. Many drivers seems to take a big momentum before the green and are able to take many positions in the first straight. I waited for the green before accelerating and I lost many positions before T1.

So I would like to know if "jumping the green" is allowed. If so, I'll do the same but I feel it is very dangerous. So I would prefer everyone to wait for the green before accelerating.

Rolling Start (for road and oval):
  1. The pole sitter must maintain a pace +/- 5mph (8kph) and may not overly fluctuate speed on the pace lap.
  2. It is every driver's responsibility to assure that restart rules are not broken in accordance to passing the pace car too soon. Any black flags given by iRacing for passing the pace car too soon will not be cleared by race admins.
  3. Drivers shall not pass cars in their own pacing line or the other line before the start/finish line.
  4. You can overtake a car before the start/finish line if it lacks of speed (from damage), spins or crashes. The overtake must happen on the opposite side of the preferred line of the first turn (example: for ovals, you must pass on the right side or iRacing will black flag you).
  5. iRacing’s rolling start rules and procedure must be respected at all time and cannot be changed.

I took a look at the start of the Indy race. Here are the moves the top-10 drivers did before the start-finish line:
1st ---> 1st
2nd ---> 3rd
3rd ---> 2nd
4th ---> 4th
5th ---> 8th
6th ---> 5th
7th ---> 10th
8th ---> 6th
9th ---> 9th
10th ---> 7th

I understand a driver can gain 1 spot side-by-side, but according to the rule #3, the driver who jump from 10th to 7th before S-F line should have been penalised. Im I right?

Thanks David for pointing it out. For the most part we do let iRacing police these things, but for something like that do feel free to submit a stewards request with the cut replay citing which rule is being broken and they stewards will look at it.

I will however make an announcement before the race that we need to keep the pack much tighter to avoid people calling out the start to their teammates to try and get a jump. If everyone is tightly packed it should avoid this issue for the most part.

I'm just seeing this complaint and clarification. The rules are clear and I've been gaining positions on starts by respecting the rules. If I was doing anything outside of the rules I would be penalize by iRacing. In the example picture, you can see that I have not passed the car starting directly in front of me on my pacing line by the start finish line. This is within the rules.

Just speculating here, but maybe I had a whole PRL season of practice at rolling starts in GT4...
