Caution Reviews, Protests and Appeals

Post by jeromef1 » Wed May 06, 2020 6:26 am

  1. On Track Reviews and Procedures
    1. On track incidents should be avoided at all costs.
    2. On track incidents that result in a caution will be automatically reviewed by the Oval Stewards and will be ruled on 48 hours following the race.
    3. On track incidents that do not cause a caution can still be reviewed. Please submit a protest using the Protest Form on the PRL website.
    4. Race Start and Caution Restarts will also be reviewed by the Steward team for early 3-wide and Lead Car speed violations.
    5. PRL's Racing Rules and iRacing's Sporting Code are in effect for all official races through the season.
    6. Stewards will issue a Caution Point value against a driver(s) found at fault for initiating the caution, as well as drivers maneuvering carelessly or recklessly that lead to other drivers getting involved in the caution. Please refer to the Rules Document for a full explination.
    7. Any driver who is issued an EOL start penalty shall not qualify. Drivers caught doing so will be issued a black flag and will have to serve a drive-thru penalty.
    8. Any driver who gets DSQ for not serving a black flag during the race will be placed in last and all points will be removed, and the race will not count as a drop week. If you receive a black flag in the final moments of a race and do not have time to serve it, you must contact the race organizers immediately so the appropriate action can be taken.
    9. You have the right to Appeal a caution decision if you feel the original ruling was incorrect. Contact will Charles Sumner withing 48 hours of the rulings being posted to Appeal a ruling. The entire Steward Team will review the incident and will cast a vote, in which the majority vote will be the final verdict. Losing an Appeal will place a 30-day restriction in place where you may not Appeal a verdict again.

Race 1: Chicago

Penalties to be served:
  • None
Steward Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 9 Protest of contact between Austin Hunter and Brody Greene. While the Stewards recognize that the start of the Safer Barrier is what launched Brody down the track and into Austin, the Steward recognized that a self error by Brody is what put him into the wall in the first place. The Stewards are giving 0.5 Caution Point to Brody Greene for this contact.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 43 protest of contact between Brenden Chatley and Doug Evens. Doug was the leader at the time on very old tires, as Brenden was on fresh tires going to un-lap himself. The Stewards determined that Doug did not break any violations as the line he was using on corner exit was his right, and that Brenden closed in at a very fast rate and tried for an outside and Doug did not have realistic time to adjust. Due to the nature of the contact and no other drivers were involved, the Stewards have ruled this as a racing deal and no caution points will be given.
Penalties to be served next race:
  • None

Race 2: Pocono

Penalties to be served:
  • None
Steward Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 1 caution. The Stewards have found Barron Hilton at fault for getting into the rear of Jeffrey Ford in T2.
  • The Stewards reviewed the caution of the Lap 5 restart. While the cause of the caution was contact from Stacy Hunter to the rear of Austin Hunter, the Stewards determined that the multicar checkup did not allow Stacy to make an appropriate move to avoid contact. This caution is being ruled a racing deal and no point will be given.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 19 caution. The Stewards have found Colton Layne at fault for drifting up in T3 and making contact with Doug Evans.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 27 caution. The Stewards have found Nicholas Hunter at fault for coming down into Adam Schoen and spinning.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 33 caution. The Stewards have found Paul Johnson at fault for moving to the right on the Front stretch and creating contact with Tristian Callahan.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 37 caution. The Stewards have determined that the "contact" between Matthew Williford and Blaine Adams on the exit of T3 was sizable enough to declare netcode as the contributing factor as neither driver made an erratic move towards one another. No caution point will be given.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 42 caution. The Stewards have found Adam Schoen at fault for making contact with Doyle Lawrence on the entrance to T2, which triggered a series of contacts which brought the caution out on the exit of T2.
  • For multiple outbursts in voice chat during the race, including after being warned by the Stewards, Matthew Williford will be issued a 1 race suspension at Indianapolis.
  • The Stewards are issuing a warning to the entire league that post race altercations are highly looked down upon and action will be taken if necessary. If you are upset with another driver, simply just leave the session and do not force our hand. Thank you.
Penalties to be served next race:
  • For multiple outbursts in voice chat during the race, including after being warned by the Stewards, Matthew Williford will be issued a 1 race suspension at Indianapolis.
