Stewards Review Here :
APPEAL Result and Comments
After considering and revising the appealProtest #2022S1- 009, the Stewards have revised their ruling.
Penalty for breaching rule 5.2.1. -
The pole sitter must maintain a pace +/- 5mph (8kph) and may not overly fluctuate speed on the pace lap has been cleared. As per new evidence, #33 went full throttle to catch up P2 but slowed down to Pace Car's speed for a reasonnable amount of time before going race pace. In this situation, the Stewards recognize that the driver did not "
overly fluctuate" but was instead catching up caused by the delays standing still on the grid.
Nonetheless, The Stewards finds that the connection issues caused distraction and confusion, and allowed #33 to get a head start while being "invisible" to the other drivers gaining in the process a small, but not negligable advantage.
For those reasons, the Stewards has decided to
1. Remove the initial 10 pts penalty for breach of 5.2.1 (Overly fluctuate)
2. Keep the initial 10 pts penalty for breach of 5.2.6 (Gaining advantage)
3. Warn driver #33 to stabilize his internet connection
These decisions are final and can't be appealed.
