Hey guys, we are nearing the end of season 2 so we are now getting set up for season 3 and would like to do a test race with a 2 race format, reversed grid to see if it is viable, we was thinking a 30 minute main race and then a shorter 15 min reversed grid race hopefully to close the points difference a little, any thoughts???

We are putting a test race on sometime this coming week and want as many as possible to attend, we will use our normal start times, the track we are on this final race (Vallelunga, for the practice) so can you all indicate the days you will be able to attend so we can set up on the day most can attend.
Thanks.

I like this idea however I feel the first race should be the main then the sprint race and no pit stop neccesary in the sprint race

Most likely available Thursday or Saturday would be good due to exams

That's the idea, no compulsary pitstops.

UPDATE: I have looked at the server cfg and it looks like reversed grid 2 race format, the races have to be identical in length, so, we can either keep it the same 1 race format we previously used, or try it with 2 x 20 or 25 min (In laps) races with no forced pit stops. Maybe it will be better to wait until they add the ability to differ the race lengths??? which I think they will.

Thoughts anyone.

What cars are planning on using in next season?

Not fully decided yet but possibly sticking with GT3

I feel this system is better for single seater cars such as the tatuus or the asr3 formula mod but either way it is a good idea and I like it and I think 25 min races would be good

If that 2 race format in assetto corsa doesn't allow differing race lengths  I feel we should wait until assetto addresse this first before we do it as it could be very difficult come race day if we have ping issues ect.
Regarding cars for next year as with the ferrari, last season I think we need to move on from the gt3 now it will become tiresome and i have a lot of ppl interested in racing a stock car ,default set ,with fixed view, this will certainly sort the men out from the boys although the option to run a gp2 type car would also be good but with varying set up options this could be a problem like this year where again the difference in points between ppl is a little depressing.
the only close racing we are going to have is if we take away the ability to set the car up to our liking and use 1 make series stock cars for example.
Mazda mx5 cup, cateram.lotus gtc, Audi tt cup.
Toyota gt86, Nissan 350 z,
BMW m325i,BMW 1m, or m3 e92.
and fixed view so everyone sees the same thing,
if you go on the servers these days nobody is playing gt3 instead the most servers full and open to public are in fact the toyota gt86 and bmw m235i or m1 of this world with all servers full all night, and some of the best racing ive had on this game because its equal and just down to driver ability and believing it or not driving these varying cars improves your skill on the game.
for instance look at these servers every now and again.
ACSERVERWWW9.SCHWARZBIERBUDE.DE  running toyota gt86 (car changes weekly)
ALOOG5-TOP 8 REVERSE  GRID running bmwm3 e30 step 1(car changes weekly)
RENSIMULANTEN.DE 2 running mazda mx5 cup
all these servers i have favourited because they are full all the time and a good quality skill base.close racing . genrally a good laugh.
point im trying to make here guys is we want to attract the best sim racers on assetto but we are picking the wrong cars  as the likes of gt3 are dead on this game ppl like more of a challenge a good test would be to put the toyota gt86 on the server set track for 1 week and look at the server stats at the end of it im willing to bet its full 90%of the time.
PRL needs too attract the best drivers available so we can have a challenging season hard fought but fair, im sure you all agree with that.

I think setup isn't the problem as much I think we need equal cars due to different cars have varying strength that's why I feel a formula 3 or the soon to be released race sin studio gp2 mod would be great

We could do a default set up but fuel amount altered so its just not quite enough to complete the race, say 1 or 2 laps short. And then set no forced pit stop at all, so then the strategy is when to stop, do you try and make tires last etc..... Could be interesting?

After doing some playing round with different cars I think the lotus 3 eleven would be a good shout as set up is like a road car and the car itself is good fun and I feel would suit our championship style furthermore its a different car to race in. (For road car or similar kind of championship)

I too have had a little play on this car. what a smashing race car this is  fixed gearing, minimal setup changes, all the ingredients needed for close hard racing fixed cockpit view also works really well as you have a great view of mirrors this could be a real contender for season 3 in my opinion good spot Aiden. :D

I was really hoping on sticking with GT3, 'cuz I really wanted to switch to the lambo GT3 and use this guy as my livery

http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/lamborghini-huracan-gt3-alitalia-livery-tribute-designed-by-essellegi-motorsport.10101/

I'm not a fan of 2 races or reverse grids, but I'll abide by whatever decision is made.

oh, one more thing... in regards to performance between the drivers... it was not because of cars. Sure, some cars have a bit more grunt than others, some more nimble than others, but overall the GT3 field of cars was balanced. The determinant varaible was driver skill. DaButton was incredibly fast in the 650S as well as the Ferrari from last season. I was mid pack in both cars. I'm sure if he had been driving the mp4-12c, he would have been winning races as well.

Exactly Jav, I think that performance is 85% because of driver skill, 10% of setup and 5% of car.

I think the car helps a lot more than just 5% as from what I have seen each car has different traits than each other which helps people around different tracks.
That's why I feel equal cars would lead to closer racing as no one would have an advantage over anyone at any track and it would show skill more.

Thankyou jav for that kind comment its much appreciated . We all have equal skill capabilities, however, I think it's down to kit you have ie wheel pedals ect also if you can work with the setup to suit your driving style i have a g27 and fantec csl pedals although not high spec helps me alot im not too sure but i think Will WILLARD  still uses a g25 with no force feedback so in my view makes him a fair better driver than me purely because of his limitations  a friend of mine twiggy who comes on the server every so often has a nearly 2k setup wheel and pedals gives him about half a sec advantage over everybody as he has more feeling on the brake and throttle pedal so frustrating but to get within 3 tenths is always my goal with twiggy the rest i cant get as im limited on equipment spec. :D
