I was a bit upset about Lyne's mistake at the beginning, I feel like I could have been a place higher without it, but I'm happy with how I managed the race after needing a first-lap pitstop. Good race all, and be careful on the starts!

I had a surprisingly good race today. Qualified in P7 and finished P4.

Qualifying was a failure as I only set a conservative banker on the supersofts and I planned to improve on it with the softs. I then made a mistake on my final qually lap and got stuck starting on the supersoft tires. The race started with a really good jump off the line and by turn 2, I had made up 3 places and was now P4. I then held off a much faster Tron in some of the most fun wheel to wheel racing Ive had in a long time. Then on lap 4, Tron tried to make a move around the outside of 130R and went wide onto the astroturf. He then spun out and retired from the race. On lap 7 I made my one and only pitstop onto the medium tires in response to the Renault of Luckymoose attempting an undercut. I made it out of the pits ahead of Lucky but my tires were very cold and he easily overtook me on his soft tires. I then started saving fuel and battery while following the 2 Renaults but on lap 9, they both made mistakes and spun, promoting me back to P4 where I drove alone for the next 18 laps to gain my best finishing position for F1 2018.

Cool vid. I did get that one good pass on you, but when I tangled with Distortion that was the end of my race. I tilted, screwed up two wings, pitted three times. What a mess. I didn't bother trying to pass Bobino, since I'd just be blue flagged. I used him as a tow to catch up to Kayos. But after Suzuka, unless Bobino suffers some disasters in the final few races, I think he has secured 4th (edit: 5th, I forgot about Megaman) in the standings. You were my challenge, Bobino. Congrats on your podium.

You're still a good challenge for me on track and there's still 4 races to go...

It was kind of strange when I overtook you on blue flag because you were just out of the pits with fresh tyres (Soft ?) and I was on worn Mediums. I would have let you pass, and come back on the same lap, if you showed me that you could escape in front of me but I had a pretty good pace myself so I didn't know what to do then. In some corners, you were close and some others no so.

At that point, Lucky's best finish was probably to get past me, since there were less than 10 laps to go and while I was only 10 seconds or so down the road, Fruitsalsa was 30 seconds ahead of me. So even if he lost a bit of time being behind you on old tires, as long as you got past me, he could be reasonably confident in getting past me on my 26 lap old mediums!

Yeah, that's the truth. It was a matter of realistic expectations in the time remaining. I'd rather comfortably follow and get up to KaYoS than risk trying for Fruitsalsa. I'd already damaged my race by being too aggressive.
