Hey All -
Wanted to provide a quick recap of the pace car debacle on lap 82. The caution was put out when I was about even with pit road exit and was heading into turn 1 and I was getting onto the backstretch when the pace car was on its way out of pit road on the apron. I was thinking I needed to catch the pace car and was rolling around turn 3 and 4 when I saw "pit road open" and at that moment I knew I had screwed up. Brandon and Brad were the next two cars on track behind me when the caution came out and both also had to stop out of turn 4 to collect the pace car. Unfortunately Brandon passed the S/F line (resulting in a penalty) and Brad missed pit road entry (resulting in pitting the second time around and starting at the back of the pack). I made the dumb decision to dive into pit road. Ultimately, we needed to slow way up/stop on the backstretch to let the pace car by earlier, but I, personally, was late in recognizing this as it just seems counter-intuitive to me to basically stop on track to let the pace car catch up before pitting.
That said, I take full responsibility for the penalties I got and will file this one away as a learning for next time. I apologize to Brandon and Brad if I misled them onto the frontstretch without catching the pace car. I also appreciate race control for taking the time to help sort things out and clear the black flags.

If it makes you feel any better, they did make changes to the way the pace car works, on the last major build.

haha, I think that makes me feel worse! I feel like it could probably use some more improvement
