Pre-Race Interview:
1) Race #6 is in Germany at Hockenhiem.  Do you like this track or Nurburgring better as the German GP?
2) Speaking of German drivers, do you think Sebastian Vettel is on way to rekindling the Shumacher era at Ferrari?  How would you rate him against Shumi?
3) Once again speaking of Shoe Makers :p what is your favorite type of foot apparel to wear?  To those wheel drivers, do you even use shoes while driving your Sim :?

I love both tracks, but I prefer Nurburgring. This is because 1: More history (cliche but whatever) and 2. The new Hockenhiem layout isn't quite as good as the old one. If it was the old layout, I would probably like Hockenhiem more.

I like to think so, but I'm not sure. I don't think that he is as good as Schumi, but he is up there.

I'm a Nike guy. I don't use my wheel in the league, but when I do use it, I go barefoot.

Not a fan of this iteration of the track. I'd prefer Nurburgring, but the old Hockenheim would be better too.
2) Speaking of German drivers, do you think Sebastian Vettel is on way to rekindling the Shumacher era at Ferrari?  How would you rate him against Shumi?
Both drivers won their championships with easily the best car, and a submissive team-mate. I'd say Vettel is better, but both are massively over-rated.
3) Once again speaking of Shoe Makers :p what is your favorite type of foot apparel to wear?  To those wheel drivers, do you even use shoes while driving your Sim :?
Socks?

Great questions BTW.

1) Race #6 is in Germany at Hockenhiem.  Do you like this track or Nurburgring better as the German GP?
I just raced Nurb for the first time in ProjectCars in a GT3, and it was alot of fun. Not sure how it would translate for me in an F1 car though since that style is the type I suffer the most on in this game. If I can stop beating my LF tyre up so much, I would say Hock for the F1 cars lol

2) Speaking of German drivers, do you think Sebastian Vettel is on way to rekindling the Shumacher era at Ferrari?  How would you rate him against Shumi?
I like Vettel, but Schumi was the driver who got me into F1 back in the 90s and will always be in a class alone in my eyes. I love to see Ferrari in a serious title run against the Mercs, but also I just want any team at this point to challenge the Mercs.

3) Once again speaking of Shoe Makers :p what is your favorite type of foot apparel to wear?  To those wheel drivers, do you even use shoes while driving your Sim :?
Solid pun, Hootie approved   I'm most comfy in my bowling shoes, mainly because that is the one thing I can compete against anyone confidently in lol As for race wear, I do not have a racing seat (just my wheel on a desk, using a comp chair with the pedals on my thick carpet), so barefoot gives me the best feel on the pedals.

This is a tough one but I would probably say Hockenhiem just because I feel like I have raced a lot at Nurburgring lately.

2) Speaking of German drivers, do you think Sebastian Vettel is on way to rekindling the Shumacher era at Ferrari?  How would you rate him against Shumi?
This is a another tough one.  I think most people would put Shumi ahead, but I think Vettel is better than people give him credit for.  The only time he lost a teammate battle was to Ricciardo for 1 season and at that point he already knew he was going to Ferrari.  He is probably close with Hamilton and Alsonso in my opinion for best on the grid.

3) Once again speaking of Shoe Makers what is your favorite type of foot apparel to wear?  To those wheel drivers, do you even use shoes while driving your Sim
I wear Vans most of the time for casual wear, however when I race on my Sim I actually go barefoot so I get maximum pedal feel!

I do enjoy myself some bowling as well Hootius!  We need to find a PBA bowling league here for PRL :D

I have gone back and forth on this over the years. I am going to sit squarely on the fence here and say I love both circuits.
2) Speaking of German drivers, do you think Sebastian Vettel is on way to rekindling the Shumacher era at Ferrari?  How would you rate him against Shumi?
I think he will go down as one of the sports best drivers when his career is over. I don't think he is quite to Shumacher's level though. Ask anyone who Michael Shumacher is and they know him. Ask a non F1 fan who Sebastian Vettel is and they likely don't. Wouldn't be surprised though if Vettel changes that with 2-3 more WDC titles with Ferrari before he hangs it up.

I wear Nike's for my everyday wear. When I am using my wheel I tend to use some house slippers (almost like moccasins), don't really like the feel of barefoot, even when driving my car.

My first interview. Fantastic to be here. I'm gonna drop a bomb right off the bat and say I can't stand either track. Nurburgring has gotten boring to look at and drive and Hockenhiem is a cheap knock off of what it once was. I'm a purist and been watching F1 since '98. Watching Rubens get his first career win there in 2000 on slicks with half the track in a down pour was a thing of beauty and really made that original layout stick in my head. Thankfully it's coming to Automobilista.

2) Speaking of German drivers, do you think Sebastian Vettel is on way to rekindling the Shumacher era at Ferrari?  How would you rate him against Shumi?

I started watching in the Schumi era but he was like Darth Vader to me. Mika was the man. I had the same feelings about Vettel. I really didn't like him when he was winning. Seemed like anyone could have won in those cars. But I have grown to like him the older he's gotten and I'm enjoying watching him win again. Scoreboard really is everything and Vettel has a few wins to go to equal Michael.

Nike's, Asics. I am a wheel user and I wear socks. Clearly by some of the responses I should try barefoot.

I think If I had a nicer set of pedals that had the load cell in stead of the normal brake, I would not be able to do that!

I'm not a huge fan of Hockenhiem it gets REALLY narrow in my opinion. I'd prefer the Nurburgring for sure.

I fell he has a solid chance to bring Ferrari back to the promise land. But it'll be really tough to get to the Shumi level.

I'm partial to my Nikes. But as far as when I do run the wheel (rare) I just keep it simple with wearing socks no shoes.

Q: 2nd
Didn't do any practice and was surprised with the grid position but not the deficit to pole.

R: 5th
Another glitch! The game started me on the wrong tyre which put my strategy of constant undercuts out the window and reduced my grip such that I half spun at T1 and lost a heap of positions. I came back to a net P4 but the top 3 had already escaped and Aaron timed his pit stop to perfection with the VSC which was essentially a free stop, demoting me to a lonely 5th by the end.

Q: 7th

Had what I felt was a decent lap on Softs. Unfortunately only Melg thought to start on them, so I was pushed all the way back to 7th. I thought about running the Supers, but stuck to my original strategy of making this a 1 stop race.

R: 3rd
I spent the race going only as hard as I needed to, as I was making an effort to get more life out of my tires than those around me. The start was a bit hectic and pushed a bit more to get into a good position. The goal was to complete 14 laps on the soft tires. I made that work and was even benefited by a VSC about mid way through lap 14, which helped me keep the same gap. The VSC ended just as I was pulling into pit lane, so I didn't gain as much time as I had hoped. I had 20 laps to complete on Mediums then, and knew I could make it but couldn't push them too hard. Ran consistent and clean laps, and when it all shook out I had 3rd place locked up. I was happy to execute a plan in the race, as I think I was a 5th place car tonight. I was thrilled to finally score my first podium of the season!

Q:1st got into the 13s so happy about that, i still think i had 1 or 2 tenths but every driver says that lol,

r:2nd
not much to say really besides pulling out an early lead at the start as i saw my team mate have troubles at turn 1 and was pretty much controlling the race until i had that puncture at the end of my stint literally as soon as it hit 75% it went  , i did the math as i saw nicks video and lost about 11-12 seconds, so to be within 4.9 seconds of meebe in the end was brutal, i would of rather he got a 12 second lead so i knew he would of won of pace alone and not my puncture that cost the win. Besides that congrats to to meebe for 3 in a row and aaron for making an amazing 1 stop work somehow. Also badluck to my team mate who had issues through out the race. Im not sure how i feel about the championship so far, deep down i have the mentality of senna where i want to win every race and will feel like a loser for coming 2nd but at the same time my team mate has kind of lectured me on how to win championships, very conflicting atm but just ready to go to COTA now.

Remember what we've discussed Dubzzy. Forget your Senna like side, embrace the style of Prost! You may not win all the races, but that elusive championship will be much easier to attain.

Didn't get to put in a solid lap at all during qualifying but wasn't too terrible of a time so I wasn't too upset.

R: 12
Was a good little beginning of the race for me. Got loose after the DRS was activated on lap 10 just before the hairpin corner and it put me in the wall. LUCKILY I kept all the wheels attached and only had wing damage. But that was bad luck as my teammate entered the pits on the lap I had wing damage and he wasn't THAT far in front of me so I had to make another lap. After that pit stop I was putting in consistent laps which is pretty good for me as I'm usually really erratic and my lap times are usually all over the place. Had some good battles with KWP and a few others throughout the race. Had it not been for wing damage I would've been able to catch a position or 2 near the end. But I finished and made up for my crappy finish at Silverstone. Definitely NOT a fan of COTA but I'm going to give it my all and try and get in the points next week. Also, congrats Mebbe on 3 in a row and all the racers on a nice clean race where we only had 1 real DNF after a week where we had all cars finish.

Quali - P4
This was probably my worst quali performance of the year.  I really wanted to start on Softs, however I completely missed the braking zone in the hairpin.  So I had to rush out and try and fit in 2 supersoft runs which I did.  I also really messed both of them up and I should have been in the low 1:14s I would have thought instead of 14.8.  It also rained a bit at the end of my last hotlap which was weird...

Race - P4
When the lights went out I got a good start and Majacko went completely side ways and I almost shaaaaaat in my pants because it was pretty close.  Luckily made it through and got along side Mebbe.  We banged wheels and he managed to hold me off.

I was able to stick with him to catch up to Dubbzy as my tire wear was looking good.  However I ended up staying out 1 lap too late and it probably cost me around 3 seconds.  This put me a little too far back.  From there it was about catching.  I saw Dubbzy get his puncture and I had to slow down alot because I didnt want to hit him.

He came out behind but drove right past me in the DRS.  I did not want to defend because I knew my tire wear would be good, but it was not good enough in the catch anyone else.
Aaron was very close on the last few laps, but I was just about 1/3 of a lap away from catching him.

Nice job for the 1 stop, I was definitely hoping to do that, but screwed up my quali!  Great work for Mebbe and Dubbzy.

Another week went by, another stinker again. I had high hopes in the beginning of this season after a good show in preseason and at Mexico. Since my crash out at Singapore, I've been straight up awful. This race again came down to absolutely terrible tire wear. I don't know how I messing up the set ups that bad. In the past my slow pace has meant good tire wear, and that's how I could steal some points here and there. Unfortunately CotA and Brazil are not strong tracks for me either. At this point I'm just trying to hang on until we get the Monza and then maybe I can actually do something that's not an embarrassment.
