it will most likely be a drop week for me. I just bought the Nord last week, I have not run one single lap on the track. I am trying to make the Indy Elite Indy 500 for this upcoming Sunday. I don't think I will have the proper practice in before Thursday.

I may miss this race as well....and all future races until I get this fixed. Anyone have issues launching the sim after the latest update? The sim freezes immediately after launch with no error codes. Tried all the basic things like driver updates and a re-install of the service to no avail.

We're going to have another open practice session tonight from 8:30 PM to 11:30 PM EST. I'm hoping for a lower track temp tonight, as last night got pretty toasty.

Also, anyone else noticing pretty extensive tire deg at this track? Maybe it is the setups I've been playing with, but it seems higher than normal.

Here's what I got so far guys. I took my Monza set and added more wing and made a couple of other changes. Turn 6 (Michael-Schumacher-S) can get a littler hairy, especially if the track heats up. I was debating making the set more comfortable for it but I had to sacrifice too much in the other corners so I'll just go with what I got for now. You can raise the front 1 tick if it's a little too slippery, and if the track really heats up we might need to add some wing.

I was able to get low 54s consistently with race fuel (85tt), probably can get in mid to high 53s in qualifying assuming the track doesn't get too hot. I only have about 45 min of practice so far so there is definitely more speed to be found.

See you guys on Thursday!
Thanks Owen.

Why do you think the broadcasters can’t adjust with 4 days to prepare exactly?
To help clarify just in case anyone wonders this about similar situations in the future. Yes, we could change with 4 days to prepare but there are a number of factors as to why we ask organizers to not change major elements like the track or layout this close to the event. The biggest one is that we are averaging around 8-12 broadcasts a week most months. So each race is not our only focus during the week. We're preparing for a number of other events that take up our time. With multiple people involved in making each show kick off, changing major factors can disrupt how much time they have. For example, Dougie our camera guy updates cameras frequently and that is a time consuming task. There are also assets that can't always be prepared at short notice such as the video track guides. While we do try to stay on top of having as big a library, it's still ill advised to change it on the off chance we don't have one ready yet. Also, we are advertising events with our calendar and social media at least a week in advance. While it's not the end of the world if a track changes after the posts go out, we don't want it to happen often of course.

This isn't to say it's impossible to change it late, just to emphasize why we ask leagues not to change them late unless it's absolutely necessary. I hope this helps folks understand from the broadcaster perspective. When we make a request of the league for certain things, we try to make sure it's for good reasons. We've been very happy with how Jerome and the team have been super helpful over the years and we're trying our best to extend the same consideration back to them.

Unfortunately I will have to miss tonight's race. I'm extremely frustrated as I usually go well at Nurburgring GP and wanted to build on my solid finish last week. One of the circuits on my pedals decided to self-immolate last night. First a bright orange LED-like glow, then a sad little puff of smoke. Stupidly I sent all my spare gear to my brother in CO earlier this year so I am dead in the water. New pedals arriving on Monday, should be back on track next week. I'll be in the session tonight just watching. Good luck everyone!

Do you have a soldering iron? That's a standard diode. No guarantee that there aren't other problems but they do fail on their own often. Any soldering iron would get it off and a new one on and you can likely find a new one on any electronics board you may have that isn't working or can be sacrificed.

If its not too late Dan, what worked for me was opening Documents->iRacing->setups->indyproPM18 and deleting the setup from Iowa. Since that was the last place I had ran, it was trying to load that oval setup and crashing the sim. Deleting the setup makes it go back to baseline which will not crash the sim.
