**Pre Race Interview**
1. Snetterton is a new one for the GT3 League. How do you like this track as a whole?
2. This week will be the only rain race for the season, and we're going to be in a full-fledged thunderstorm. Do you like the challenge of rain racing or do you find it to be completely unenjoyable?
3. What's the one new track coming to Project Cars 2 that you're excited the most for to race on in this league for next season?
**Race Recap**
Tuesday night was Race #2 of Season 8 for the PS4 GT3 crew. Last week the league had a very unique race in at the Monza Short setup. How do we follow up a race like that? Well we shipped everyone off to a rarely used track, and decided to flood it!! Snetterton 200 in thunderstorm conditions for the only rain race on the season’s schedule.
Unlike last week’s tight qualifying battle, this qualifying session belong totally to last week’s race winner, Patricio Campos (Pitricio). Patricio put down a killer time and took the Pole by a whopping .778 secs, for his 14th career Pole in the league. Tyler McIntosh (MacAttack0922), Charles Sumner (Hootius) and Kyle Spencer (KDawgHonda777) had a very heated battle for outside of Row 1, all 3 drivers only being separated by .063 secs! Vince Nadal (TSpottr723) rounded out the Top 5 for qualifying.
Patricio proved that his qualifying lap was no fluke at all, as he ran away with the race for the 2nd week in a row, taking the win and the fastest lap. Tyler was able to hang with Patricio in the early laps of the race, until a disconnect cost him a shot at a great finish (unfortunately the league saw 4 drivers have connection issues during the race). Off the start, Vince had a great jump at the lights, and was able to overtake Charles and Kyle S. by the end of Turn 1. During the first 15 laps or so, the 3 drivers had close and hard fought battle that saw positions swapped back a forth several times. The finishing order between the 3 would come down to who could have the cleanest race, which went to Kyle S. as he was able to stay straight and come home in the runner up position. Charles was able to overcome a pit road issue that required him to hit pit road a 2nd time, and came home with his first Podium finish in the league. Vince had a few unfortunate spins, but had a fast and consistent car to keep the 4th position. Mark Kaelin (Bubba18) improved a spot on his qualifying effort to round out the Top 5. The biggest mover in the race belonged to Dallas Johnson (Porq_Chopz), who jumped up 5 positions from his 11th place qualifying spot, and brought his Mercedes home in 6th place.
The top 10 finishing order was:
1st – Patricio Campos (Pitricio) – 10th career win and 5th Hat Trick, both PRL PS4 records
2nd – Kyle Spencer (KDawgHonda777) - Back to back Podiums and personal best finish
3rd – Charles Sumner (Hootius) - First career Podium
4th – Vince Nadal (TSpottr723) – 2nd Top 5 of the season
5th – Mark Kaelin (Bubba18) – 1st Top 5 of the season
6th – Dallas Johnson (Porq_Chopz) - Personal best league finish
7th – Max Lewin (RiteAidKid84) - Personal best league finish
8th – Kyle Ely (Rocckson2Kyle) - First Top 10 of the season
9th – Lance Lewin (RacerLance) - First career Top 10 finish in the PRL APCC League
10th – Tyler McIntosh (MacAttack0922)
Both Championship battles opened up a bit after Race #2, by in large part to Tyler McIntosh (MacAttack0922)’s unfortunate disconnect. In the Driver’s battle, Patricio Campos (Pitricio) now owns a 8 point lead on Kyle Spencer (KDawgHonda777), with Charles Sumner (Hootius) 4 pts behind Kyle S. in 3rd place. The Team battle saw Cromo Ramrod’s (Patricio and Charles) lead jump up to 20 points over Attack Racing (Tyler and Kyle S.). The Team battle for 3rd continues to stay tight as Vin Rin Racing (Vince and Mark), Speed Syndicate (Drayton and Mark) and Vertical 3 (Max and Lance) are only separated by 7 points.
Next week, the crew will pack our bags for Italy, as speed will be at a premium at the very fast Imola circuit. You can catch the race from one of our many drivers’ points of view who stream the races on Twitch:
