Pre-Race Interview:
1) This week we are in China.  How do you like this track?
2) Robert Kubica drove the 2017 Renault car last weekend.  Do you think he will be back on the F1 Grid?
3) F1 2017 revealed some more features for career mode.  Which game mode do you spend the most time in?

Race Recap:
Rain! Lot’s of it! This was a very wet race. Full wets, and it poured from the start to the finish. The drivers knew it was coming when the session loaded. The qualifying session was bone dry. So every driver had a decision to make. Go for a wet setup, that may sacrifice starting position to have a stronger car for the race. Or set a blistering time on a dry setup, to get the best starting spot you could, and adjust the car in the race for the conditions.
With the varying strategy playing out our first two rows looked like this:
1st- Melvin Guererro (Melg222)
2nd –  Connor Stanek (McSendit)
3rd – Pearce Jackson (El_Majacko)
4th – Edwin Garcia (MysticJoker323)
At the start of the race, Connor was able to get off the line a bit better than Melvin and beat his new teammate to the first corner coming out with the early lead. The spray was intense throughout the field as everyone was bunched up. Several cars had contact, some minor, some more severe. But the top 5 cars, which included Nick Delp (nickthequick) had a bit of a gap gained on the rest of the field after a few laps.

Melvin surprisingly dove into the pits at the conclusion of lap 3, which we later learned was due to a drive through penalty. When he came out, he was in 18th position. Unfortunately as he was trying to make his way back through the field, he had several incidents which lead to his retirement from the race. A huge blow to his championship hopes as he came in the points leader with only two races left on the schedule.
Back at the front Edwin was able to make his way around Connor on lap 6 and began to build a gap. Nick and Connor would battle for the 2nd and 3rd for the remainder of the rain soaked race, with Connor ending up edging him out..
Edwin took advantage of Melvin’s problems to win the race comfortably, and take a 12 point lead into the penultimate round of Australia next week!
Top 10 Finishing Order:
1st – Edwin Garcia (MysticJoker323) – 5th Win of the Season!
2nd – Connor Stanek (McSendit) – First Podium Finish!
3rd – Nick Delp (nickthequick) – 7th Podium Finish!
4th – Pearce Jackon (El_Majacko)
5th – Dylan Zimmerman (dszman) – Fastest Lap of the Race!
6th – Ric Migneault (Lance Stroll) – First Points Finish!
7th – Aaron Webb (AaronWebb85)
8th – Dean McKinnon (HSVDT_15)
9th – Kyle Spencer (KDawgHonda777)
10th – Tim Crass (THE-DITCH-WITCH)

Pre-race interview is up, its crazy how Kubica only got minor injuries from this one compared to his rally crash:

1) This week we are in China. How do you like this track?
China is my favourite circuit on the calendar. If I don't close in the championship lead this week, I'd suggest my chances may be over. With the amount of chaos we've seen this season the champion will the winner of a lottery, and I never encounter good luck, so I have my doubts it'll be me raising the WDC.
2) Robert Kubica drove the 2017 Renault car last weekend. Do you think he will be back on the F1 Grid?
I really hope so, but looking at his arm I don't see how. With that said, his efforts this past week were incredible and I wish him all the success possible in the future.
3) F1 2017 revealed some more features for career mode. Which game mode do you spend the most time in?
I pretty much use multiplayer exclusively. That's the only way to learn and improve as a league racer.

I don't mind this track. This will be the first race I've done here on the wheel. The first corner has always been tricky for me on a gamepad, for some reason I can't turn and brake with that so I'm hoping to have a much better pace than I usually do. And I really need to make up for 2 horrible weeks.

As awesome as it would be I'm not sure. He's been out for quite some time but I'm all for him strapping in again.

Multiplayer, duh. HAHAHA but the new career mode is going to be awesome!

1) This week we are in China.  How do you like this track?
This is one of my favorites.  I love the first turn, there is really not another track that has a turn like that.

2) Robert Kubica drove the 2017 Renault car last weekend.  Do you think he will be back on the F1 Grid?
I would like to see what he can do because he was really fast, and I bet he will be faster than Palmer no doubt :p even with only 1 good arm.

3) F1 2017 revealed some more features for career mode.  Which game mode do you spend the most time in?

When I first started playing the game I played career now I really only play TT and quick race to see what the race strategy will be.  I actually need to practice online because that would help out so much more!  I wish you could do an online session with more sessions than just practice with yourself and AI.

1) This week we are in China.  How do you like this track?
This track is in the middle of the pack for me. Turn 1 is a lot of fun, but after turn 1 there isn't much to get excited about and most of the corners really just setup a long straightaway. That said, I have always enjoyed watching F1 races in China as there is a good amount of passing... even if it's all done under DRS on the straights.
2) Robert Kubica drove the 2017 Renault car last weekend.  Do you think he will be back on the F1 Grid?
I hope so. It would be an amazing story and I think it would also generate a lot of positive buzz for Formula 1. It seems less and less likely each day that there will be any major changes to the driver lineup at Ferrari, Merc, and Red Bull.... at this point I hope both Hulk & Palmer get the boot at Renault and we get a Kubica / Alonso lineup at Renault next year. That'd be fun.
3) F1 2017 revealed some more features for career mode.  Which game mode do you spend the most time in?
The new R&D "tree" in F1 2017 career mode looks quite cool. Should be fun to mix a bit of unreliability into the career mode to make it more realistic. I used to spend about 50% of my time in career mode and 50% in multiplayer, but I've been spending more time in multiplayer lately.

It's not one of my best. I don't corner very well on this track for some reason. But I'm really looking forward to joining the grid full-time in the Merc for this race, so we'll see what happens.
2) Robert Kubica drove the 2017 Renault car last weekend.  Do you think he will be back on the F1 Grid?
I really hope so. It's tough to say at this point, but if nothing else, he showed the world just how tough and resilient he is. It's a great story and I hope he gets rewarded with a chance to be on the grid again soon.

Definitely career mode. I can't wait to dive into all the new R&D and reliability elements that they've implemented into this year's version. It's going to make the racing that much more exciting.

1) This week we are in China. How do you like this track?
It is a nice track, fairly easy to go side by side for a few corners witch makes it fun.

2) Robert Kubica drove the 2017 Renault car last weekend. Do you think he will be back on the F1 Grid?
No, he is probably a solid driver but I don't think any better than some of the young drivers in line for rides.

3) F1 2017 revealed some more features for career mode. Which game mode do you spend the most time in?
I spend the most time with multiplayer, however some times on quick race I think it's fun to start last on a 25% race give the rest of the field a 10sec head start then see how far up the field I can finish.

Not my favorite as I can never seem to run well here. The hairpin usually is where I give up too much time.

2) Robert Kubica drove the 2017 Renault car last weekend.  Do you think he will be back on the F1 Grid?
I doubt it. There are so many good young drivers out there that  have money behind them. Shame, because he is a true talent.

3) F1 2017 revealed some more features for career mode.  Which game mode do you spend the most time in?
I'm mostly a online only racer, but with the new features I will certainly check it out. I'm also making the switch to the wheel for 2017, so it will be a good place to practice.

Well just after there was a time put in during qualifying, Clogmonger53 and I both completely lost internet to everything. It was then a mad scramble to get back into the session before the race. Thankfully was able to make it back into the session with 3 minutes or so left in the session. WHEW! Then to the race. Our first rain race of the year and I was so excited! F1 2016 starting glitch came out and gave clog and I both green lights before the rest of the field so we had a huge start. But that wouldn't effect anything during the race. My strategy was just to keep my nose clean and finish. Was locked in with a battle with my teammate near the end which was so much fun (even though he was in the manor and not sauber) This race makes my 4th race of the season finishing 11th. Man, I wish every finishing position was given points instead of just the top 10. I'd be showing better drivers championship standing than I am currently. So much fun, and I can't wait for the next season in a hopefully better online version of F1 (seems like the closer we get to 2017 the more issues we get with 2016)

edit: does going 19th to 11th make me the highest mover of the race? Not sure but don't know if anyone else moved up more positions than that.

I do believe you are the high mover in the race. So congrats on that buddy, you raced a really nice race given the conditions and the issues and qualifying. I was also giving kudos to you and Ditch for that fun battle you guys had on the last two laps. As for Ditch being in the wrong car, that one goes on me and I apologize. When I was doing commentary with Jobes and we remade the lobby, I didn't realize it put me in Ditch's car and put him into a Manor. If I get a chance to help on commentary again, I'll do my best to make sure we don't have those issues.

Q: 10th
Ran a wet setup and it certainly hurt my dry pace.

Eventful race through the first half. Unfortunately ending with me braking late and on the curb to break my wing on DSZ in front. Only cost me a chance to fight for 5th or 6th, but disappointing a nonetheless.

I did the same thing as you Majacko on the first lap it went down and then continued to do that 2 more times.  Nice race and commentary as always!

Thanks Nick. Shh! Don't tell everyone we struggled with the foam board missing or we'll never see any braking markers again!
