Pre-Race Interview
1. How was your race in Monza last week?
Last week went pretty well.  In the practice sessions before the race I ended up finding a good +1 second per lap which kept me in the battle with the front runners.

2. This week we are at a another fast track in Canada, how do you like it?
I like this track as well because it is technical, fast and a lot of fun!  Sometimes weather can also be a factor as well

3. It seems like some tracks better suite wheels where other tracks better suit gamepads.  How can codemasters do better in balancing their games for Wheel vs Pad and Assist vs Non Assists.  Is this even possible?
In all honesty I think pads and wheels are the most balanced that they have been because we are seeing both winning races.  As for assists well I think they could work on those.  I think what they need to do is keep an eye on the TT leaderboard and make the TT boards so that they are set for Online Equal Cars.  From there they can monitor the leader boards and see what the top times are using, and they should also add a controller type like they have in Pcars in addition to the assists used.

1. How was your race in Monza last week?
I went a lap ahead of second but didn't take the start. Figure that one out. :p
2. This week we are at a another fast track in Canada, how do you like it?
I've never liked the track. It's always been one of my worst and least favourite until this game where its still in my least favourites but I have some pace at least.
3. It seems like some tracks better suite wheels where other tracks better suit gamepads. How can codemasters do better in balancing their games for Wheel vs Pad and Assist vs Non Assists. Is this even possible?
This was a bigger issue on F1 2014, but still tracks like Austria and Canada favour wheels. That's not a big gap though compared to the assists where I'm quite disgusted at the balance currently. I run another league where the championship leader is the biggest noob you've ever seen, but uses every assist apart from braking assist and smashes the actual good drivers in the wet.

1. How was your race in Monza last week?
I've missed two races in a row which was super disappointing. I work in a body shop and my painters wife had a baby so I got to paint for 2 weeks. Great experience but I had to put off a bunch of stuff for 2 weeks. Back for Canada.
2. This week we are at a another fast track in Canada, how do you like it?
Canada is easily in my top 3 favorite locations on the calendar. I love all the stuff in the air from the trees, the long straights, a driver used to go on Letterman since they were in the neighborhood, Robert Kubica nearly offed himself there, wall of champions, etc.
3. It seems like some tracks better suite wheels where other tracks better suit gamepads.  How can codemasters do better in balancing their games for Wheel vs Pad and Assist vs Non Assists.  Is this even possible?
I'm not sure what they can do from a development stand point. As these games get more advanced developing for both wheel and pads is probably becoming more difficult, balance wise. I'm not even sure those two should be racing against each other. Like in a first person shooter a pad would be murdered by mouse and keyboard every time. Maybe not the best comparison but wheel and pad are different animals none the less. I am not a fan of assists but for F1 I have found them to be necessary. I'm guessing it's the torque/wheel spin that's killing me. I only used assists when I first started sim racing and was super happy when I quit using them. At a certain point I could feel them holding me back. This is my first venture into F1 (online) and I'm hot stank garbage without assists and just plain garbage with them.

1. How was your race in Monza last week?
This was the one track in the whole game where I felt I could be a legit Top 10 driver. Purposely starting in the back and using tyre strat was working out great. But after getting taken out once by lag, once by a back marker and having to make five pit stops, I cannot express enough how discouraged I was.

2. This week we are at a another fast track in Canada, how do you like it?
I don't mind this track. It's has some similar characteristics to Monza, so this might be my only remaining chance to get an okay finish.

3. It seems like some tracks better suite wheels where other tracks better suit gamepads. How can codemasters do better in balancing their games for Wheel vs Pad and Assist vs Non Assists. Is this even possible?
You're never going to be able to get it fully equal. Like Sass brought up with FPS with controllers versus keyboard and mouse, it just is what it is. The only thing they could do is just try to make sure it's close enough to where even if certain situations have a small advantage over others at certain tracks, they just do their best to keep it as a small advantage.

1.How was your race in Monza last week?

It was horrible. I felt that I was so down on power that I was lucky to score a point. I think Clogmonger having a drive through penalty was the only reason I scored. And on top of that, me and Forza made contact so really not a good race at all.

2.This week we are at another fast track in Canada, how do you like it?

I really enjoy Canada. I've always enjoyed the corners. I wish the Xfinity series would go back to Canada.

3. It seems like some tracks better suite wheels where other tracks better suit gamepads. How can codemasters do better in balancing their games for Wheel vs Pad and Assist vs Non Assists. Is this even possible?

I don't think we will be able to solve the difference between Pad and Wheel. It's probably impossible. Probably the same for assists, but outright driving skill I think will trump being assisted at the end of the day.

1. How was your race in Monza last week?

Pretty bad considering my pace there

2. This week we are at a another fast track in Canada, how do you like it?

Pretty quick here but not sure what my pace is compared to others

In terms of wheel vs gamepad, i say this as a pad user- wheels will always be faster naturally but codies need to realise this and help the pad users out by making it feel like you have control over the car and you're not just turning left and right.
As for no assists vs assists, thats a simple one no assists should be much faster regardless if people are on a wheel or not.
As 2016 proved wheel+full traction is quicker than the no assist counterpart. So assists should be for new racers trying to get the basics down. Not for people trying to gain an advantage. No assists should reward you with having everything off not ridiculing you for not running anything

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if there would be a seat free for the race tomorrow

I have a few people who have asked. I will see how many spots we have open and will invite people based on their order on wait list/reserve list.

1. How was your race in Monza last week?
I was very happy with my finish last week. Definitely benefited from some misfortune from a couple front runners, but I did run a very clean race.

2. This week we are at a another fast track in Canada, how do you like it?
Tough track! Wall of champions has proven how much I am not a champion several times over the seasons. I think I have top 6-7 speed so we will see if I can run a clean race like last week and score another top 5.

3. It seems like some tracks better suite wheels where other tracks better suit gamepads.  How can codemasters do better in balancing their games for Wheel vs Pad and Assist vs Non Assists.  Is this even possible?
I can't speak much to the wheel vs pad on F1 since I never really gave myself a chance to adapt to the wheel on this game. I feel very comfortable on pad just from experience, though I am planning to make the switch for 2017. Assists are almost always slower compared to a skilled driver using no assists. However for most of the people who don't have the time or ability to have the car control needed to use no assists and race competitively it keeps them able to compete. For me I use med-full traction control based on the track, with assists off I struggle to run even remotely competitive times.

Nailed the lap, happy.

R: 13th (FL)
Made a decent start and retained the lead early but made some errors and had mebbe and Forza all over me. Soon mebbe half spun me (completely spinning himself) which allowed Forza through. He let me back through, I think to readdress, but I saw nothing wrong with his move so I assume lag involved. He then overtook me with DRS. I chipped my wing a bit at this point but ran 2nd when the SC was deployed. The my luck just went out the window. Firstly I fell back to 7th as my wing was changed and I was held in the box. Then, on the restart I was being super careful behind dszman. Everyone was checking up a lot and trying not to run into the car in front, but mebbe steamrolled into the back of me when I was trying to avoid dszman and caused me a puncture. From there my race was irretrievable without another SC which never came. I actually snuck into the points briefly but while pushing for 9th got myself another puncture consigning myself to 13th a lap down. That might suggest championship over now. Three non-points finishes have really screwed me.

Well, this race being my first race with my new T150 wheel I wasn't sure what to think. I didn't get a chance to adjust any settings before the practice sessions. Time hasn't been on my side this last week. But I got it to where I was able to drive comfortable for the most part. Wing damage seemed to be my best friend as I only had I think something like 3 total laps with no wing damage at all. Right around 10 laps to go in this crazy race, Brian and I were having some intense battles that lasted for around 5-7 laps straight. I was doing everything I could to hold onto the inside lines to force him into using the outside of the corners. I was holding him off the best I could then on the 2nd to last lap I saw him spinning and into the wall around turns 4 and 5. I didn't feel any contact whatsoever but after talking to him he told me that we did come together just enough to lose it. I was bummed because that was surely shaping up to be a crazy battle for the final points position in this race.

Quali: P5
The final lap of quali was finally a decent lap but it only put me P5.  I have no idea how guys were getting into the 11s....

Race: P6
The good news was that the race pace was definitely there so I don't really get it.  I was basically battling the entire race.  It started off with Aaron and DSZ and that continued for awhile until the safety car came out.  It looked like the Haas cars had to double stack and that put me in front of Aaron.  Dubzy has some lag during the safety car, he was inside a car then in the wall, then he drove back up through and it looked like he ghosted again into Dolphin and then got way out in front but then went into the pits.  That was bizarre.

From there we were 2x2 battling for the lead.  Dolphin was trying to hold the train off but then we got by.  I had to back out numerous times battling Aaron and DSZ again.  Finally I was pushing hard and managed to get by Aaron but then it seemed like my tires were very overheating and it seemed like I had no grip and was making mistakes.  Luckily I was able to stay enough ahead and pull a small gap.

From there I was about 4-5 seconds behind Mystic.  I knew I was going to have to try an undercut, so I did with 12 laps left.  This actually put me in the lead by about the same margin.

With 2 laps left Mystic caught me and passed after I was able to hold off the first attempt.  I was able to stay in the slipsteam and knocked some of my wing off on the last lap in the hairpin.  I think I just take that corner differently than him.  From there we were two wide going into the Wall of Champions Chicane.  We both gave enough room but I was unable to put the power down as fast on the inside lane and ended up taking P2 by .2.

What a race and there was some great clean racing with the Haas guys and DSZ.  What a race just like last week!

Tough luck for Mebbe I would like to see his onboards, but you better not stop racing man!  Hang in there because I know its disappointing because you probably had the most pace with you 1.11.6 in practice but there's still more rounds left and we like having you on the grid!  I was actually going to ask you to team up for next season since we are both on wheels with no aids!!!

I was only 1-2 tenths off my best. Could have maybe gotten to 5th but was happy with where I wound up.

R: 3rd!
What a race. I think that was the most fun I've had in a race in a long time. I seemed to be battling with Nick and dsz the whole race. I ran a pretty clean race and had some decent raw speed. Nick was certainly faster but I had several overtakes on him which in the end held him up enough that my teammate was able to overcome our poor pit strategy and get the win. Congrats to Mystic on his 3rd win of the season, and great drive by Nick as well to the 2nd step of the podium. Couldn't have been happier to get a double podium for Haas! #Merica

Cuz that's what i do

R: 7th
First time in 2 months I finished with all of the car parts that I started the race with... Not without some huge luck with a dead car being ghosted that didn't result in my murder. Pace improved as the race went on, and for the first time since CotA, I've had a positive Thursday night.
