Hey guys.  Attached is an early set for Barber.

First Impressions car - This car is harder to drive then I was expecting. It's definitely not a throw it in the corner and go car like the skippy was. It doesn't have tire warmers like the F3 does so the first lap (especially on a cold track) is a nightmare. You really need to baby the car at the start. Best advice I have is to drive slow and focus on being smooth with both wheel and throttle inputs. Slow is fast in this car, keep thinking slow and smooth while driving and your lap times will come down. There is bound to be a lot of attrition so if you keep it safe you will have a great race result. Lap times should be close for everyone, you will have a couple of fast guys way ahead, a few slow guys in the back, and probably 30 cars within a second of each-other.

Track - Barber is a tough track with this car and not an easy place to pass. Definitely a rough place to start the season. Turn 5 (180 left hander) is probably the most dangerous corner and i'm guessing there will be a lot of spins there. Also the left front tire takes a beating here. After 15 laps my left front inside was at 69%. I'm definitely changing tires during my pit stop. Luckily this car changes tires quickly so it should only cost a couple of seconds.

Just a word of caution about Barber

There are many spots on this track, especially in pack racing, that unexpected check ups will occur within the group. With 42 cars on track, the start of this race is going to be insane. There is also a broad range of skill levels in this series, so just because you can take the corkscrew at mach 6 doesn't mean the person in front of you can.

Every race of every season the same thing is said "You can't win the race on the first lap". Without fail, someone tries to prove us wrong and they end up screwing themselves and other people. Don't be that guy.

Also take note, and pay very close attention to this. The iRacing in sim chat is for race communication only. Pass left, pitting in, wreck at turn X, are all acceptable forms of race communication. "Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid Stupid, idiot" is not a form of race communication and you will be penalized. Owen will personally drive to your house and mock you if you break this rule.

While I'm sure I will catch some flak for this, Barber and the F2000 can be raced in AI. If anything, race it with AI set at 100 just to see how bad it can get.

Attached is an updated set. Was able to get 122.9 on a warm track, optimal 122.7 with qualy fuel, race pace for me will probably be in the mid 23s, maybe even 24s with traffic. Your first 2 laps are throwaways, It's laps 3-5 where you will see your best times.

Yeah, first couple laps have zero grip. Lap 6 is when the car starts to get real comfy

Like Erik said, it's a really good idea to run some practice against AI. We are going to have to give each other plenty of room if this is going to end with more than half the field still racing.

Great race guys, a couple of incidents here and there but for the first time in this car and on a tough track I think it was a success with no major wrecks on the first lap. Congrats to Kevin and I'll see you guys next week at the oval!
