Good evening drivers! Welcome back to PRL for the 17th Season of the GTE Sports Car Series!  Today we are at Monza! Love it, or hate it, we do have a few general points to cover about the race this evening.  Before we get to that some special announcements.

Thank you to SIMMSA for coming back again as our main sponsor! And let us give a warm welcome to Buttkicker for coming in as this season’s co-sponsor as well as offering prizes!
Second- Thank you to Jerome and Dany for allowing me back in as your series organizer!  Welcome back to by partner in crime Christian as an organizer as well!  We hope to have another great and successful season together!

Please make sure to visit the forums regularly for any updates. This is where they will be. Occasionally we will have threads posted where we are asking for driver feedback as to the direction of the league as well as engagement questions for all the drivers for each week.

The Tuesday series is now the largest that I have ever seen it and I am sure the response from every has made the management at PRL extremely excited and scared as crap.  There are 74 drivers among two divisions.  I am glad to see we have gotten a  lot of interested drivers.  Please know this- not everything we will do or say will please everyone.  We are not going to cater to one person or small group. We are going to do what is right to make sure everyone has a great experience and keeps coming back for more fun.

With that- drivers, it is up to you to make sure you join the correct session.  It is clearly labeled. If you do not join the correct one- you will be kicked and docked 20 points. Also, paints need to follow iRacing eSport Network’s protocol. If you have a sponsor that is not already approved via iRacing or PRL then please submit a letter from said sponsor with them explicitly stating that you have authorized use of the logos and name.

Make sure your number is correct. No special number layers. We use iRacing’s numbering system.  You have all picked your number so please make sure it is correct in iRacing before joining the session. Make sure you are in Discord before pre-race meeting starts. It will generally start 5 minutes from the start of qualifying. Tonight is an exception due to the amount of talking I must do.

Also, if you are filing a protest for an incident that happens during one of the PRL sessions- do it on OUR forum. We have our own stewards and penalty system.  Three or more cars included in a wreck will automatically be looked at by the stewards.

I’d like to give Ken with SRT a big thanks for hosting a practice session every Monday night for all of PRL to join to get some practice in with league drivers.

I realize that was a lot of information all at once. These notes will be posted in the forum with a link posted in Discord.  Thanks to Christian for the Spanish translation!

Questions?

ESPAÑOL

Buenas noches pilotos!

No números superpuestos.

What's the in sim start time?

League session shows this info...race will start at sunset-night
2019-05-15 19:10 1x

It will be very useful if we can see this info on this section, since it's also related to the track info. Yes, we all can go to iRacing and check, but since all the info about the race should be here, I think it's good to have it here too. Just a suggestion.

Well, it looks like my first appearance of the season will be delayed. I am about 95% sure I won't be able to attend this race as something has come up. Unless I post otherwise before Tuesday, plan on me not being in attendance.

And then we have those who like to flash headlights when they are 4 seconds behind someone.
Then they end up crashing the next lap. Pure genius.

I wonder if anyone @ iRacing considered the abuse of the headlight flash by people. I can't recall any of the top drivers doing so.
Yet we have new drivers @ the back of the field with no one near them doing it. And in a braking zone no less by the person I refered to who when off track right after doing so.
My rule of thumb in racing as in life is to treat people as you want to be treated.
Do you know how annoying it is ?
Do you think that you headlights can't be seen in the mirrors?
Generally when the blue flag is displayed, I'm already looking at relative to see the closing rate and to see if it's 1 car or if's there a race for position brewing. I will then start looking for where I can get out of the way.
Flashing headlights only distract from that happening.

Just to address this topic. It is written in the Racing Rules that headlight flashing is only to be used when a leading car is lapping a slower car. Headlight flashing is not to be used randomly, in a moment of anger, or in a manner of distracting for making an overtake for position. This is punishable by the Stewards if reported. Please have the respect for your fellow drivers to not use headlights in a distracting or underhanded manner and only use the flashers when appropriate.

Do lapped drivers have the right to unlap themselves? Last night I was being caught by the person behind me position wise and a car a lap ahead was significantly slower than me but wouldn’t allow me to pass.

Some clarification on this would be awesome because I understand the need to let the cars doing the lapping ahead, but we were still running our race and the slower person wasn’t within 30 seconds of a position fight.

Adam you were one of the headlight flashers.
You were not close enough to pass me when you started doing so.
What do you expect, for me to pull over so you can get by?
Yes a driver is allowed to pass you even if they are a lap or laps down.
A driver you are lapping must yield to the blue flag, but does not have to pull over and let you by.
It's your responsibility to get by cleanly. But they are not allowed to block you in the case of a teammate catching you

I understand the frustration but could we please not abruptly yell over comms if we are mandated to be on them. It is a huge distraction and nearly caused a wreak.

I actually thought I turned my mike off as I was having issues during practice.
We for sure need to have 1 channel for each division.
I apologise for that. What started out as a good night turned to dung quickly.
Health problems made it impossible to practice during the week.
And besides Daytona & Motegi, night racing & I don't work well together.
I doubt I will race the next one.

That is in the racing rules as well. If you are lapped due to pit cycles or something of that nature, you are allowed to overtake lap ahead cars if you have the pace. It would be as you passing a car for position where you need to establish overtake and hold proper lines while completing the pass. Of course making the pass will give you a blue flag immediately, but you are given the chance to pull away and clear the flag. If at a point that car then re-catches you, the blue flag rule comes back into play.

This goes out to all drivers: I encourage everyone to read the Racing Rules section completely (especially since we all had to click that little button that says we did when we sign up). If you have any questions or feel a rule needs more clarification, please don't hesitate to send me a PM so I can address it.
