Wow, lots of envy going on after going through this thread. Very nice rigs, guys!
I'm currently running an Alienware Aurora R7 with an i7 8700 and a GTX1080. I have a G29 wheel, pedals, and shifter mounted to a Wheelstand Pro. I switched to racing on VR on an Oculus a couple months ago and haven't gone back to a monitor since. I thought about going with triples, but the immersion of VR is just too cool, even with the reduced resolution and I'm lucky enough that my computer can handle fairly good settings. I'd post pics but it's not like none of you have seen a G29 before. LOL
Speaking of which, I'm thinking about upgrading my wheel and pedals in the not TOO distant future. Right now I'm really leaning towards a Fanatec Clubsport setup. I'm almost positive I'm going to go with the V3 pedals, possibly inverted, and I really like their shifter. The ability to go from H-pattern to sequential with the flick of a switch is pretty damned cool. I'm not entirely sure about the wheel though. From what I've read, the Clubsport v2.5 is a very solid wheelbase, and they definitely make some nice rims, but I'm wondering if I should just save a little more and go with a direct drive like an OSW. Anybody have first hand experience? Wheel strength doesn't matter to me. No one plays with them cranked up, so what's the point? It basically comes down to smoothness, feel, and accuracy. Is DD really worth the money and the issues with support that I've read about?
