Sounds good!! Have you look at the review of Ryzen? I don't know it yet, not sure if it's as good as Intel.

MSI for motherboard, good move, they are doing more than Asus and less expansive.

Not bad but Intel's still better. At least, they fix their temperature problem. AMD used to heat, but now it's fixed. As usual, Intel is better in gaming, but AMD provide very good encoding and memory management.

I think it's a good choice for the price!

If you look at this page : http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-7-1700-cpu-review,5009-6.html

Ryzen 1700 is a bit less performant that the i7-6900K.  Look at the price of a i7-6900K, https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117645&cm_re=i7_6900k-_-19-117-645-_-Product

Rayzen is 10% less in performance for the 1/3 of the price, https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113428&_ga=2.251976713.1250336710.1497289386-1453658195.1493834116

And it is gonna be a good improvement from the Intel Core i7 3820 Quad Core 10MB 3.6GHZ Hyperthreading LGA2011 that is more than 5 years old.

What kind of budget do you have for your upgrade ? I would definitely go Intel but that depends on the budget.

It cost me 1000$ CDN for all components...Intel i7 is more than  1200$ alone...goint Intel would have cost me more that 1800$

I once had an AMD Athlon on 2000, and it served me well, since then I always bought Intel and Asus MB, but Intel CPU are very expensive right now..

I would have gone with an i7 7700k which is cheaper and better for gaming than the Ryzen 1700. Don't get me wrong the Ryzen is a very good CPU for the price but Intel has always had that edge on AMD.

Still great build !
