On Track Reviews and Procedures

  • On track incidents should be avoided at all costs.
  • On track incidents that result in a caution will be automatically reviewed by the Oval Stewards and will be ruled on 48 hours following the race.
  • On track incidents that do not cause a caution can still be reviewed. Please submit a protest using the Protest Form on the PRL website.
  • Race Start and Caution Restarts will also be reviewed by the Steward team for early 3-wide and Lead Car speed violations.
  • PRL's Racing Rules and iRacing's Sporting Code are in effect for all official races through the season.
  • Stewards will issue a Caution Point value against a driver(s) found at fault for initiating the caution, as well as drivers maneuvering carelessly or recklessly that lead to other drivers getting involved in the caution. Please refer to the Rules Document for a full explanation.
  • Any driver who is issued an EOL start penalty shall not qualify. Drivers caught doing so will be issued a black flag and will have to serve a drive-thru penalty.
  • Any driver who gets DSQ for not serving a black flag during the race will be placed in last and all points will be removed, and the race will not count as a drop week. If you receive a black flag in the final moments of a race and do not have time to serve it, you must contact the race organizers immediately so the appropriate action can be taken.
  • You have the right to Appeal a caution decision if you feel the original ruling was incorrect. Please fill out the Appeal Form within 48 hours of the rulings being posted to Appeal a ruling. The entire Steward Team will review the incident and will cast a vote, in which the majority vote will be the final verdict. Losing an Appeal will place a 30-day restriction in place where you may not Appeal a verdict again.

Round 1: Las Vegas

Penalties to be served:

  • There are no carry-over penalties from Season 3.
Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 52 caution. The Stewards have noted the sizable netcode gap between Josh Conquer and Ryan Traver on the backstretch as "contact" happened. With neither driver making a definitive move towards one another to warrant contact being created, the Stewards are ruling this as netcode and no penalty will be given.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 71 caution. While approaching T3, there was a gap between Clayton Montgomery and Jim Westerfield as they started the entry into T3. While the Stewards note Jim was moving more to the left at the time, it was not a sharp turn that would have warranted contact. Due to that ruling and the netcode gap between the trucks, the Stewards will not give a penalty for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 78 caution. The Stewards noted that while Danick Momy and Patrick Cowgill were crowding each other in T3, at the moment of "contact" between the 2 drivers, there was a gap of netcode with neither driver making a move to warrant contact. Due to that ruling, the Stewards will not give a penalty for this review.
  • The Stewards are giving Danick Momy a partial caution point for post race contact that is against the PRL's Code of Conduct. Any future issues of this matter will lead to an automatic suspension.
  • The Stewards reviewed a protest of contact between Danny Cervantes and Matthew Long on Lap 75. The Stewards ruled that with Danny having to check up off the exit of T4 to avoid contact with the truck in front of him, that did not give Matthew a realistic chance to avoid contact to the rear of Danny, which sent him spinning into the grass. The Stewards will not issue a penalty for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed a protest of contact with between Miguel Cardozo and Danny Cervantes after the Lap 77 caution. While recovering from the wreck, the Stewards ruled that Miguel did make a very slow turn around back onto the racing surface, and should have seen Danny closing the gap on his relative box before contact happened. Though, the Stewards are acknowledging that Danny was still at a very fast pace while the yellow was out as he was over a half lap behind at the point of caution, and trying to catch back up to the field. With Danny traveling at a higher rate of speed than Miguel would have expected, the Stewards are only issuing a partial caution point to Miguel for this review.
Penalties to be served the next race:
  • No penalties to be served at Talladega.

Round 2: Talladega

Penalties to be served:

  • No penalties to be served at Talladega.
Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 26 caution. The Stewards have found Jose Medina at fault for a self spin while trying to enter the pits, and wound back up onto the racing surface.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 37 caution. While the Stewards note that Joao Guerra would have been at fault for clipping Danny Cervantes before T1 which sent Danny a little wiggly (but ultimately no real loss of control), the massive netcode between Danny and Colton should not have happened and triggered the accordion effect that triggered the wreck. Due to the massive amount of netcode, the Stewards will not be giving a penalty for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 43 caution. The Stewards have noted that while Clayton Curry was moving right in T2 and Joao Guerra was moving left, neither driver was moving towards one another in a fast manner and there was slight netcode between the 2 trucks. That door netcode sent Joao to the outside barrier, where his truck was "wall grabbed" and then an accident was triggered. Due to the severe nature of the wall grab, the Stewards will not be giving a penalty for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 52 caution. The Stewards have noted that as Barron Hilton and Josh Conquer were in the middle of a 4 wide event, both drivers made a slight motion towards one another (Barron moving more than Josh), and slight door contact was made. The Stewards have ruled that the slight door touch between the 2 trucks should not have lifted Josh's left side tires off of the ground like they did, and was a result in over calculated netcode on the server. The Stewards are ruling this as a racing deal and no penalty will be given.
Penalties to be served the next race:
  • For receiving a caution point at Talladega, Jose Medina must not qualify at Charlotte.

Round 4: Kansas

Penalties to be served:

  • No penalties to be served at Kansas
Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 9 caution. The Stewards have found Danick Momy at fault for getting into the LR of Adam Schoen entering T1.
  • The Stewards reviewed a protest of contact on Lap 8 Daniel Knight and Patrick Cowgill. The Stewards have found Daniel at fault for moving right in T4 to the point where he created contact with Patrick, who was holding a steady line, which lead to Patrick getting into the outside wall.
  • The Stewards reviewed a protest of contact between Thomas Sink and Joshua Daniels on the entrance of T3 on Lap 18. Due to varying amounts of netcode on different replays, the Stewards could not agree on if contact would have happened or not. Due to the split vote, this protest will be ruled as netcode and no penalty will be given.
Penalties to be served the next race:
  • For receiving a full caution point at Kansas, Danick Momy must not qualify at Texas.

Round 5: Texas

Penalties to be served:

  • For receiving a full caution point at Kansas, Danick Momy must not qualify at Texas.
Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed the caution as the green flag was waving to start the race. While there was an accordion effect taking place starting in the 6th row, drivers in the next 6 rows were able to check up in time to avoid contact. The Stewards noted however that Joao Guerra held back 5 car lengths, accelerated faster than the group ahead, and then carried the group of cars behind with too much speed towards the check up, and contact was created behind him due to limit visibility. While there is no direct rule in place to dictate a maximum space behind vehicles under pacing, the Stewards contribute that factor as the leading cause of the caution as the checking up would not have been as severe if he was more in a reasonable distance and would not have had time to carry the extra speed. The Stewards are giving Joao a partial caution point for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 8 caution. The Stewards have found Doyle Lowrance at fault for moving left in T3 and creating contact with Jim Westerfield, resulting in a spin.
Penalties to be served the next race:
  • For receiving a full caution point at Texas, Doyle Lowrance must not qualify at Martinsville.

Round 6: Martinsville

Penalties to be served:

  • For receiving a full caution point at Texas, Doyle Lowrance must not qualify at Martinsville.
Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 3 caution. The Stewards have noted the noticeable netcode gap between Barron Hilton and CM Pennington as the drivers entered T1, which resulted in Barron spinning. Due to the size of the netcode and the appearance that the trucks wouldn't have otherwise touched, no penalty will be given for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 12 caution. The Stewards have found Rob Haynes at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 54 caution. The Stewards have found Thomas Sink at fault for a self spin entering T1.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 60 caution. The Stewards noted that while 3 wide, there was a noticeable netcode gab between Patrick Cowgill and Thomas Sink in T3 that started the spin of Patrick. Due to the size of the netcode and the appearance that the trucks wouldn't have otherwise touched, no penalty will be given for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 66 restart caution. The Stewards have found Jose Medina at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 74 caution. The Stewards have found Matthew Long at fault for a late move entering T3 and into the LR of Danny Cerventas, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 100 caution. The Stewards have found AJ Roderick at fault for a self spin entering T1.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 106 caution. The Steward have found Adam Schoen at fault for getting into the rear of Richard Thomas entering T3, resulting in a spin.
  • While the wreck that triggered the Lap 106 caution happened behind them, The Stewards have found Dalton Geyer at fault for losing control and moving up and hitting Austin Hunter in T4, resulting in Austin going into the outside wall and collecting another vehicle.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 115 caution, The Stewards have found Mark Kaelin at fault for moving up and into the door of Colton Layne at the apex of T3/4, resulting in a spin.
  • There were 2 incidents at the same time as the caution flew on Lap 121 that will share responsibility in this review. First, the Stewards have found Bradley Holly at fault for a self spin on front stretch.
  • As well, the Stewards have found Patrick Cowgill at fault for moving up in T3 and making contact with CM Pennington, resulting in a spin.
Penalties to be served the next race:
  • For receiving a full caution point at Martinsville, Rob Haynes, Thomas Sink, Jose Medina, Matthew Long, AJ Roderick, Adam Schoen, Dalton Geyer and Mark Kaelin must not qualify at Phoenix.

  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 72 caution. The Stewards have found Jim Westerfield at fault for a self spin off of T2.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 98 caution. The Stewards have found Thomas Sink at fault moving right into Brad Holly past the dog-leg approaching T1, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Initial start. The Stewards have found Rob Neilor in violation as he want to the outside of the row in front of him at was 3 wide at the Start Line, before the dogleg maneuvering could begin.
  • The was a Lap 24 protest of contact. The Stewards have found Migual Cardozo at fault for going right into AJ Roderick off of T2, triggering damage to multiple cars that did not result in a caution. The Stewards will only give a partial point due to wall grab making the contact with other cars worse than what it should have been.
  • The Stewards reviewed the incident on the backstretch on the Final Lap. The Stewards are ruling that due to several drivers making maneuvers at the same time, that no driver will be issued a caution point and this review is ruled as a racing deal.

Round 8: Darlington

Penalties to be served:

  • For receiving a full caution point at Phoenix, Rob Haynes, Thomas Sink, CM Pennington, Joao Guerra, Dalton Geyer, and Jim Westerfield must not qualify at Darlington.
  • Matthew Long must also not qualify at Darlington to serve his penalty from Martinsville.
Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • There was a protest of contact around the L1 incident that resulted in many damaged cars, but no caution. First, there is no violation against Colton Layne as he was the truck that got loose in T1. While he did hit the wall and was the catalyst of the check up, Colton kept his truck up high, so there is no direct cause of contact. As for Matthew Long and Austin Hunter, both drivers escaped to the apron at the time of the check up and were in the clear until the accident came down to the apron from the racing surface. There is no violation for either driver for driving dangerously into the accident as the trucks sliding down gave them no time avoid damage. The Stewards have deemed that Danny Cervantes' actions of driving down on the apron, and then back up into the racing surface was a violation that lead to the start of the vehicle contacts. The Stewards do note the appearance of netcode contact between Danny and Adam Schoen, so the penalty for the manuever will only be a partial caution point.
Penalties to be served the next race:
  • CM Pennington must also not qualify at Homestead to serve their penalty from Phoenix.
