On Track Reviews and Procedures

  • On track incidents should be avoided at all costs.
  • On track incidents that result in a caution will be automatically reviewed by the Oval Stewards and will be ruled on 48 hours following the race.
  • On track incidents that do not cause a caution can still be reviewed. Please submit a protest using the Protest Form on the PRL website.
  • Race Start and Caution Restarts will also be reviewed by the Steward team for early 3-wide and Lead Car speed violations.
  • PRL's Racing Rules and iRacing's Sporting Code are in effect for all official races through the season.
  • Stewards will issue a Caution Point value against a driver(s) found at fault for initiating the caution, as well as drivers maneuvering carelessly or recklessly that lead to other drivers getting involved in the caution. Please refer to the Rules Document for a full explanation.
  • Any driver who is issued an EOL start penalty shall not qualify. Drivers caught doing so will be issued a black flag and will have to serve a drive-thru penalty.
  • Any driver who gets DSQ for not serving a black flag during the race will be placed in last and all points will be removed, and the race will not count as a drop week. If you receive a black flag in the final moments of a race and do not have time to serve it, you must contact the race organizers immediately so the appropriate action can be taken.
  • You have the right to Appeal a caution decision if you feel the original ruling was incorrect. Contact will Charles Sumner withing 48 hours of the rulings being posted to Appeal a ruling. The entire Steward Team will review the incident and will cast a vote, in which the majority vote will be the final verdict. Losing an Appeal will place a 30-day restriction in place where you may not Appeal a verdict again.

Round 1: Nashville SS

Penalties to be served:

  • For being found at fault for causing a caution at the final race at Charlotte, Brandon Walter must not qualify at Nashville.

Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 11 caution. The caution started as Joao Guerra and Baron Lobosco were positioning for T1 and made contact with one another, resulting in a spin. Based on both drivers moving towards one another at the point of contact, the Stewards are ruling that both drivers will share responsibility with this caution and receive a partial caution point.
  • During the Lap 11 caution, the Stewards have ruled that Baron Lobosco unsafely moved down after stopping from the wreck, and pulled in front an oncoming car, causing damage.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 41 caution. While it was contact with Rob Besaw that sent Taylor Stout spinning to the outside wall, it was contact made by Abner Acosta to the rear of Besaw that turned him into Stout. By that ruling, the Stewards have found Abner Acosta at fault for this caution.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 82 caution. The Stewards have found Patrick Cowgill at fault for moving left off of T4 exit and making contact with Michel Gagnon, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 99 caution. The Stewards have found David Mayberry at fault for locking up after missing pit road and coming to a stop on the apron.
  • The Stewards reviewed a protest of illegal blocking on Lap 61. The Stewards have ruled that Trent Dinkle did do a reactionary block to the left to impede the run of Octavio Rondoletto, and then made a 2nd block again to the left requiring Octavio to lift to avoid contact as the block went all the way to the apron. The Stewards are giving Trent a partial caution point for the illegal blocking.

Penalties to be served the next race:
  • For being charged with a full Caution Point Nashville, the following drivers must not qualify at Pocono: Abner Acosta, Baron Lobosco, David Mayberry and Patrick Cowgill.
  • For not being in attendance at Nashville to serve a prior penalty, Brandon Walter must not qualify at Pocono.

Round 2: Pocono

Penalties to be served:

  • For being charged with a full Caution Point Nashville, the following drivers must not qualify at Pocono: Abner Acosta, Baron Lobosco, David Mayberry and Patrick Cowgill.
  • For not being in attendance at Nashville to serve a prior penalty, Brandon Walter must not qualify at Pocono.
Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 1 caution. The Stewards have found Trent Dinkle at fault for getting loose off of the exit off of T2, and coming across the nose of Taylor Stout, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 78 caution. The Stewards have found Barron Hilton at fault for hitting the wall on his own accord and having a self spin on the front stretch.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 82 caution, The Stewards have found Abner Acosta at fault for getting into the quarter panel of Jess Vaught at the start of T1.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 9 protest of contact between Michel Gagnon and Patrick Cowgill. While the Stewards have rules that while Michel did get loose off of T2, it just stopped his momentum of going to the wall, and he did not move sharply to the left as the TV camera made it seem. With that, the Stewards ruled that Patrick did not have sufficient time to avoid making contact to Michel during his loss of speed. Due to the factors stated, the Stewards have ruled this as a racing deal and no penalty will be given to either driver for the contact.
Penalties to be served the next race:
  • For being charged with a full Caution Point at Pocono, the following drivers must not qualify at Atlanta: Abner Acosta, Barron Hilton, and Trent Dinkle.

Round 4: New Hampshire

Penalties to be served:

  • For being charged with a full Caution Point at Atlanta, Michael Witt may not qualify at New Hampshire.
Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 9 caution. The Stewards noted while Brandon Walter did get loose off of the exit of T2 and move to the left, there was the appearance that he had the car straighten out when a noticeable netcode contact sent Rob Besaw spinning. Due to those factors, the Stewards are ruling this caution as a netcode issue and no points will be given.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 14 protest of contact between Charles Sumner and Michel Gagnon. Even though there was a gaggle of cars bunched up in T1 coming off the restart, the Stewards have ruled the movement 3 lanes down Michel made to make contact to the RF of Charles Sumner (which sent him off track and lead directly to loss of positions) was excessive and Michel will be penalized a partial caution point for the contact.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 101 protest of contact between Joao Guerra and Bradley Holly. The Stewards have ruled that Joao did not hold his original racing line, and washed up the track and initiated the contact with Brad causing LF damage. The Stewards are giving Joao a partial caution point for this contact.
  • The Stewards reviewed a protest of pit road violations on Octavio Rondoletto during his Lap 68 green flag pit stop. The Stewards note that entry into the stall was through 5 pit stalls, and on his way out, his left side tires touched a 6th pit stall. While the rule states 5 pit stalls, the Stewards have agreed that the clipping of the 6th stall did not gain an advantage worthy of a penalty. The Stewards are issuing a warning to be more careful of the pit stall limit.
Penalties to be served the next race:
  • No reviews from New Hampshire resulted in any penalties for Wilkesboro.

Round 5: North Wilkesboro

Penalties to be served:

  • No reviews from New Hampshire resulted in any penalties for Wilkesboro.
Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 37 caution. The Stewards have found Matthew Long at fault for moving right in T4 and creating contact with the LR of Brad Holly, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed a potential pit road violation on the Lap 40 pit stop. While the Stewards acknowledged Joshua Daniels drove through more than 5 pit stalls, there was a 3 wide situation and Joshua did try to move out of the right before playing on the side of safety and holding his line in the boxes. The Stewards will not apply a penalty for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 59 caution. The Stewards have found Danny Cervantes at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 74 caution. The Stewards have found Patrick Cowgill at fault for a self spin off of T2.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 109 caution. The Stewards have found Joshua Daniels at fault for getting into the rear of Danny Cervantes entering T1, causing a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 117 caution. The Stewards have found Trent Dinkel at fault for a self spin entering T1.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 140 caution. While on the entry to T1, there was contact between Waldo Walden and Brad Holly that resulted in a spin. While Waldo had the inside line, there was a bobble and a slight move to the right as contact was made. At that time, Brad was still arching down low in a manner that saw him travel more than a lane down. With both factors in play, the Stewards are ruling the contact caused is on both drivers and they still share responsibility in this caution.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 146 caution. The Stewards have found Kris Hudson at fault for making contact to the LR of Scotty Johnson entering T3, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 158 caution. The Stewards have found the start of the caution was due to David Wilson losing control and pancaking the wall on the backstretch coming off of T2. However, before the Stewards could tell if David would have lost complete control or not, there was a massive netcode occurrence that caused Adam Zemke to receive massive damage and David to get launched, though they were over a car lengths apart from one another. Due to the loss of control but then the uncertainty of the netcode, the Stewards will only issue David a partial caution point for the loss
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 176 caution. The Stewards have found Danny Cervantes at fault for a self spin off of T3.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 188 caution. The Stewards have ruled that coming off of T2, Waldo Walden held a steady line on the high side, and that Barron Hilton is at fault for moving right off T2 and creating contact with the LF of Waldo that triggered the spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 208 caution. The incident started on the entry to T3 between Abner Acosta and Trent Dinkel. While the Stewards noted that Abner did not have sufficient overlap to give him rights to the inside line as Trent made his entry into 3, neither driver made any aggressive movements towards one another as netcode contact caused Trent to spin up the track. Because the Steward can not say with fact that the contact would have happened in such a matter to spin Trent without the netcode, the Stewards are ruling this caution as a netcode an no point will be given.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 218 caution. The Stewards have found Brad Holly at fault for losing control in T1 and creating contact with Abner Acosta, resulting in a spin.
Penalties to be served the next race:
  • For being charged with a full Caution Point at Wilkesboro, the following drivers must not qualify at iRacing SS: Trent Dinkel, Barron Hilton, Patrick Cowgill, Joshua Daniels, Bradley Holly, Kris Hudson, and Matthew Long.
  • For being charged with 2 cautions at Wilkesboro, Danny Cervantes will serve a 1 race suspension at iRacing SS.

Round 6: iRacing SS

Penalties to be served:

  • For being charged with a full Caution Point at Wilkesboro, the following drivers must not qualify at iRacing SS: Trent Dinkel, Barron Hilton, Patrick Cowgill, Joshua Daniels, Bradley Holly, Kris Hudson, and Matthew Long.
  • For being charged with 2 cautions at Wilkesboro, Danny Cervantes will serve a 1 race suspension at iRacing SS.
Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Last Lap incident involving Mark Kaelin and Abner Acosta. The Stewards have ruled that while Abner was moving right to crowd Mark on the backstretch, it was not what the Stewards called an illegal block. As contact happened between Abner and Mark while Brad Holly was bump drafting Mark, this lead to an unrealistic netcode event which took Mark's LF tire off of the racing surface and eventually spinning. Due to the events leading to the contact and the unrealistic nature of Mark's car movement, this incident is being ruled as a racing deal and no penalties will be given.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Last Lap incident involving Brandon Walter and Matthew Long. Since this incident started as a bump draft at the finish line and the finishing order was not effected at all, the Stewards have ruled that this incident as a racing deal and no penalties will be given.
Penalties to be served the next race:
  • For not being in attendance at iRacing SS to serve a prior penalty, Joshua Daniels must not qualify at Watkins Glen.

Round7: Watkins Glen

Penalties to be served:

  • For not being in attendance at iRacing SS to serve a prior penalty, Joshua Daniels must not qualify at Watkins Glen.
Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed a protest of contact and unsafe re-entry between Kris Huson and Patrick Cowgill. When Kris broke too late and drove himself wide on T1, it was upon him to enter the track safely. As he re-enter, Kris did keep his car within a car-widths of the white line, but also had to check up a little to not bring himself out across the track and into the path of Patrick. As Patrick was closing the gap on Kris, Patrick was moving to the left and created contact with the rear of Kris, resulting in nose damage. With the factors that Kris was off speed and Patrick had the chance to stay to the right to avoid contact, the Stewards are ruling this incident as a racing deal and no penalties will be given.
  • The Stewards reviewed a protest of contact between Octavio Rondoletto and Trent Dinkel entering the Esses. The Stewards are ruling that due to the sizable gap between the 2 at the point of "contact" as a result of netcode, and that Octavio was at the point to turning in when Trent was already turning in as the cars were completely side by side, that this incident will be ruled as a racing deal and no penalties will be given.
Penalties to be served the next race:
  • For not being in attendance to serve a prior penalty, Joshua Daniels must not qualify at Indy Road.

Penalties to be served the next race:
  • For not being in attendance to serve a prior penalty, Joshua Daniels must not qualify at Michigan.
  • For being charged a caution point at Indy Road, Rob Besaw must not qualify at Michigan.

Round 9: Michigan

Penalties to be served:

  • For not being in attendance to serve a prior penalty, Joshua Daniels must not qualify at Michigan.
  • For being charged a caution point at Indy Road, Rob Besaw must not qualify at Michigan.
Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 107 caution. The Stewards have found Pat Harvey at fault for moving to the right off of T4 and creating contact with Charles Sumner, resulting in a wreck.
The Stewards reviewed the Lap 111 caution. The Stewards have found Pat Harvey at fault for losing control coming off of T4, and triggering a multicar incident.
Penalties to be served the next race:
  • For being found at fault for 2 cautions at Michigan, Pat Harvey will serve a 1 race suspension at Daytona.

Round 10: Daytona

Penalties to be served:

  • For being found at fault for 2 cautions at Michigan, Pat Harvey will serve a 1 race suspension at Daytona.
  • For not being in attendance to serve a prior penalty, Joshua Daniels must not qualify at Daytona.
Caution and Protest Reviews:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 3 caution. While the Stewards recognized Joao Guerra was moving to the left, there was a sizeable amount of netcode between himself and Rob Besaw at the point where Besaw was spun. Because the size of the netcode and the Stewards can not say with 100% confidence that contact would have happened, this review is being ruled as netcode and no penalty will be given.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 25 protest of contact between Octavio Rondoletto and David Wilson on Lap 25. The Stewards have found Octavaio at fault for a bump draft into the LR quarter panel of David after the exit of T2, which lead directly to a loss of control and terminal damage to David.
Penalties to be served the next race:
  • Nothing to carry over into S4.
