On Track Reviews and Procedures

  • On track incidents should be avoided at all costs.
  • On track incidents that result in a caution will be automatically reviewed by the Oval Stewards and will be ruled on 48 hours following the race.
  • On track incidents that do not cause a caution can still be reviewed. Please submit a protest using the Protest Form on the PRL website.
  • Race Start and Caution Restarts will also be reviewed by the Steward team for early 3-wide and Lead Car speed violations.
  • PRL's Racing Rules and iRacing's Sporting Code are in effect for all official races through the season.
  • Stewards will issue a Caution Point value against a driver(s) found at fault for initiating the caution, as well as drivers maneuvering carelessly or recklessly that lead to other drivers getting involved in the caution. Please refer to the Rules Document for a full explanation.
  • Any driver who is issued an EOL start penalty shall not qualify. Drivers caught doing so will be issued a black flag and will have to serve a drive-thru penalty.
  • Any driver who gets DSQ for not serving a black flag during the race will be placed in last and all points will be removed, and the race will not count as a drop week. If you receive a black flag in the final moments of a race and do not have time to serve it, you must contact the race organizers immediately so the appropriate action can be taken.
  • You have the right to Appeal a caution decision if you feel the original ruling was incorrect. Contact will Charles Sumner withing 48 hours of the rulings being posted to Appeal a ruling. The entire Steward Team will review the incident and will cast a vote, in which the majority vote will be the final verdict. Losing an Appeal will place a 30-day restriction in place where you may not Appeal a verdict again.
  • Penalties and race thresholds will carry over from season to season in 2021.

***This review was not completed prior to S2 Race 1, penalties from this race could not be served at Bristol and will instead be enforced at iRacing Superspeedway**

Race 10: Las Vegas

Penalties to be served:
  • No penalties to be carried over from the previous race due to Pat Cowgill appealing a previous penalty.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the caution off of the initial start. The Stewards have found William Farmer at fault for not holding his line and creating contact with Nicholas Hunter on the entry to T1. However, due to a missed shift further up in the field causing a massive scatter to avoid contact and trucks going 3 and 4 wide, the Stewards are only giving William a partial caution point for this caution.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 48 caution. The Stewards have found Mark Kaelin at fault for creating contact with the rear of Brandon Walter in T1, causing a spin.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Vegas, Mark Kaelin must not qualify at iRacing Superspeedway.

Race 1: Bristol Dirt

Penalties to be served:
  • None due to a delay in the previous races' reviews

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 7 caution. While the caution started with contact as Greg Korzen went across the nose of Jim Westerfield, the reason Greg moved to the left was due to netcode with Mike Richter that change Greg's directory. No caution point will be given due to netcode.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 19 caution. The Stewards have found Dalton Geyer at fault for making contact with Adam Zemke in T1, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 25 caution. The Stewards have found that the contact from Charles Sumner LR to the RR of Mark Kaelin was the initial start to the events that lead to the caution, and that contact was due to Charles straightening out his truck after making wall contact due to his own accord. The Stewards are giving Charles a caution point for the contact.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 34 caution. The Stewards have noted that the contact that Brenden Chatley made to the rear of Abner Acosta was due to Abner losing speed due to a tail wiggle, so Brenden has no fault in this caution. The Stewards have ruled though that Abner was not going to lose complete control of his car before the contact was made, Abner will only receive a partial point for this caution.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 45 caution. The point of contact that triggered the caution was Adam Young making contact with Mark Kaelin in T1. However, Mark got into the outside wall, and created contact with Nicolas Hunter, who then hit Adam and forced him against the pit road wall. Due to the fact that of how the cars want to react when slamming the brakes, the Stewards will not hold Adam accountable for sliding up in T1, and will only issue Mark a partial penalty due to the dirt's effect which otherwise would have been avoidable.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 51 caution. Due to conflicting replays showing netcode and contact between Bradley Holly and Dominic Begin off of the exit of T4, the Stewards have to rule with the inconsistencies and no penalty will be given due to netcode. Also because of the track blocking satiation and the inability to slow properly on the dirt, there will be no other penalties for any "ARCA'ing" into the accident that involved over half of the field.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For losing his appeal from an Atlanta review, Patrick Cowgill must not qualify at iRacing Superspeedway
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Vegas, Mark Kaelin must not qualify at iRacing Superspeedway
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Bristol Dirt, Dalton Geyer and Charles Sumner must not qualify at iRacing Superspeedway.

Race 2: iRacing SS

Penalties to be served:
  • For losing his appeal from an Atlanta review, Patrick Cowgill must not qualify at iRacing Superspeedway
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Vegas, Mark Kaelin must not qualify at iRacing Superspeedway
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Bristol Dirt, Dalton Geyer and Charles Sumner must not qualify at iRacing Superspeedway.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 6 caution. The Stewards have found Brett Adams at fault for not holding his line in T3, and creating contact with Josh Canova and John Labaff, triggering an accident.
  • The Stewards reviewed the multicar wreck on the Last Lap. The Stewards have ruled that neither Patrick Cowgill or Josh Conquer made a significant move towards one another to warrent contact, and that the trigger of the wreck was netcode contact between the 2. There will be no penalty for this accident.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at iRacing SS, Brett Adams must not qualify at Chicagoland.

Race 3: Chicagoland

Penalties to be served:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at iRacing SS, Brett Adams must not qualify at Chicagoland.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 1 caution. The Stewards have found Barron Hilton at fault for getting into Marcus Miller on the backstretch, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 60 caution. The Stewards note while Adam Zemke was moving to the right during a 3 wide entry into T1, the netcode contact between himself and Dominic Begin was large enough that the Stewards have to rule this caution is due to netcode and no penalty will be given.
  • On the Lap 65 restart, The Stewards have found Josh Conquer guilty of a restart violation resulting in passing and early 3 wide situation that was not due to a under powered car or check up event.
  • On the Lap 65 restart, The Stewards have found Adam Schoen guilty of a restart violation resulting in passing and early 3 wide situation that was not due to a under powered car or check up event.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 69 caution. The Stewards note while Patrick Cowgill was moving to the right positioning for entry into T1, the netcode contact between himself and Brett Adams was large enough that the Stewards have to rule this caution is due to netcode and no penalty will be given.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Chicagoland, Barron Hilton must not qualify at Richmond.

Race 5: Kansas

Penalties to be served:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Richmond, John Labaff must not qualify at Kansas.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 53 caution. The Stewards have found Brenden Chatley at fault for getting loose off of T4 and coming down into Dominic Begin and causing a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 59 caution. The Stewards have found Matthew Kulhanek at fault for getting loose off of T4 and coming across the nose of Daniel Knight.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 80 caution. The Stewards have found Jose Medina at fault for drifting to the right in T1 while at the bottom of a 3 wide situation, and created contact with Patrick Cowgill which sparked a wreck.
  • There was a protest of contact on Lap 56 on pit road between Elliot White and Brad Holly. The Stewards have found Elliot at fault for making contact twice to Brad which the Stewards did note the increase in Brad's speed at the point of contact and ruled the contact was the main factor in Brad receiving a pit road speeding penalty. The Stewards noted that the contact did lead to any damage and that Elliot dropped to the back of the field of his own on the next restart, so there will be a partial penalty given for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 22 protest of contact between Brett Adams and Daniel Knight. The Stewards have found Brett at fault for moving too far to the right on corner exit of T2 and created contact with Daniel that got him loose and lead to the direct loss of multiple positions.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 79 protest of contact between Adam Schoen and Mike Richter. The Stewards have ruled that while in the trioval and at the start of a 3 wide situation being created, Mike was moving to the right as Adam was moving to the left as contact happened, causing issues to only those 2 drivers. There was a small amount of netcode, but the Stewards rule that contact still would have happened, so the official ruling will be a Racing Deal for this review.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Kansas, Brenden Chatley, Matthew Kulhanek, and Jose Medina must not qualify at Darlington.
  • For not being in attendance to serve a penalty from a prior race, John Labaff must not qualify at Darlington.

Race 6: Darlington

Penalties to be served:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Kansas, Brenden Chatley, Matthew Kulhanek, and Jose Medina must not qualify at Darlington.
  • For not being in attendance to serve a penalty from a prior race, John Labaff must not qualify at Darlington.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 1 caution. The Stewards have found Blaine Adams at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 7 caution. The incident started with a situation off of T4 between Adam Young and Brett Adams, where the appearance of netcode sent Adam across Brett's nose and triggered the wreck. The Stewards have ruled that neither driver made a move towards one another to have warranted contact, and that netcode was the primary cause. No points will be given for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 45 caution. The caution triggered from contact off of T2 between Josh Conquer and Patrick Cowgill. Technicality has Josh at fault for door contact on Patrick as he drifted right on the exit of corner exit, but the Stewards acknowledge Patrick's placement and the awkwardness of T2 exit. That combined with the amount of distance Patrick traveled down the backstretch before spinning off of the wall, the Stewards will only be awarding Josh a partial caution point for the initial door contact.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 63 caution. The wreck started with contact from Mark Kaelin to the rear of Mike Richter on the exit of T2. The Stewards noted though that Mike did have a check up due to a truck in front out of control, which is when the contact happened. Due to not having proper time to react to the check up, the Stewards do not find Mark at fault for this caution and will rule it as a racing deal.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 88 caution. The contact between Thomas Sink and Mark Kaelin happened on the exit of T2. Mark got into the wall under his own accord earlier in the turn, but held the truck up against the wall the entire time, so the Stewards will not penalize for loss of control due to that factor. While Tom has been found at fault for hitting the rear of Mark, the Stewards note the drastic speed difference and will only be awarding Tom a partial caution point for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed a protest of contact on Lap 1 between Barron Hilton and Colton Layne. Further up in the pack, a car in the Top 5 got loose and went down to the apron on the backstretch. The truck did not lose complete control but ddi puff up some smoke. This caused a chain reaction accordion effect through the field. The Stewards have ruled that Barron's vision was blocked and he did not have time to react to the check up when the contact to Colton happened. The Stewards are ruling this protest as a racing deal.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Darlington, Blaine Adams must not qualify at Dover.
  • For not being in attendance to serve a penalty from a prior race, John Labaff must not qualify at Darlington.

Race 7: Dover

Penalties to be served:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Darlington, Blaine Adams must not qualify at Dover.
  • For not being in attendance to serve a penalty from a prior race, John Labaff must not qualify at Darlington.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 17 caution. The Stewards have found Adam Zemke at fault for coming across Patrick Cowgill's nose before the entrance to T3 while both cars were at full throttle, but any lift could occur for corner entrance.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 97 caution. The Stewards have noted several instances of netcode contact between Mark Kaelin and Dalton Guyer starting from the exit of T4 and again later down the front stretch. The Stewards have ruled that the netcode was sizable enough that we could not say that the original contact would have happened. There will be no penalty for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 103 caution. The Stewards have found Bradley Holly at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • There was a Lap 44 protest of contact between Brett Adams and Patrick Cowgill. While the Stewards note that the situation was not preferred as Patrick went to the high line and created a 3 wide situation as a lapped car while Brett and Adam Schoen were side by side for position, the technicality is that Patrick did not break the rules and that he also held his line off of T4 exit, and the contact was generated by Brett moving to the right and into the door of Patrick. With all factors combined, the Stewards are ruling this as a racing deal and no penalty will be given.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Dover, Adam Zemke and Bradley Holly must not qualify at COTA.
  • For not being in attendance to serve a penalty from a prior race, John Labaff and Blaine Adams must not qualify at COTA.

Race 9: Charlotte

Penalties to be served:
  • For not being in attendance to serve a penalty from a prior race, John Labaff, Adam Zemke and Blaine Adams must not qualify at Charlotte.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 1 caution. The caution was a result of an accordion effect due to leader Richard Regan getting loose in the bottom racing line and checking up the field. The Stewards have ruled that Richard's loss of control lead to the effect that created the caution, he was not completely out of control to cause his own spin. The Stewards will only give a partial point for this caution review.
  • The Stewards reviewed a protest of contact on Lap 44 between Patrick Cowgill, Brett Adams and Austin Hunter. The Stewards have ruled that all the actions that transpired between the apex of T3/4 thru the exit of T4 could have been avoided by all parties and that there is equal share in the issue that only effected the 3 drivers listed. The Stewards are ruling this as a racing deal and no points will be given.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For not being in attendance to serve a penalty from a prior race, John Labaff and Blaine Adams must not qualify at Iowa.
