On Track Reviews and Procedures

  • On track incidents should be avoided at all costs.
  • On track incidents that result in a caution will be automatically reviewed by the Oval Stewards and will be ruled on 48 hours following the race.
  • On track incidents that do not cause a caution can still be reviewed. Please submit a protest using the Protest Form on the PRL website.
  • Race Start and Caution Restarts will also be reviewed by the Steward team for early 3-wide and Lead Car speed violations.
  • PRL's Racing Rules and iRacing's Sporting Code are in effect for all official races through the season.
  • Stewards will issue a Caution Point value against a driver(s) found at fault for initiating the caution, as well as drivers maneuvering carelessly or recklessly that lead to other drivers getting involved in the caution. Please refer to the Rules Document for a full explanation.
  • Any driver who is issued an EOL start penalty shall not qualify. Drivers caught doing so will be issued a black flag and will have to serve a drive-thru penalty.
  • Any driver who gets DSQ for not serving a black flag during the race will be placed in last and all points will be removed, and the race will not count as a drop week. If you receive a black flag in the final moments of a race and do not have time to serve it, you must contact the race organizers immediately so the appropriate action can be taken.
  • You have the right to Appeal a caution decision if you feel the original ruling was incorrect. Contact will Charles Sumner withing 48 hours of the rulings being posted to Appeal a ruling. The entire Steward Team will review the incident and will cast a vote, in which the majority vote will be the final verdict. Losing an Appeal will place a 30-day restriction in place where you may not Appeal a verdict again.

Race 1: Atlanta

Penalties to be served:
  • No penalties to be carried over from the previous season.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 27 caution. The Stewards ruled that the contact off of T2 with Mike Knight was no fault of Mike has he was moving up off of corner exit at a reasonable pace and would hold no responsibility in initiating contact. Along those lines, James did get loose off of T2 and stopped his progress to the right, and only moved half a car width to the left. While James' loose moment was the main contributor to the caution, the Stewards ruled it was not a full loss of control moment and James will only receive a partial caution point for this caution.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 118 caution. The Stewards have found William Farmer at fault for loosing control off of T2 and created contact with Thomas Roberts on the backstretch, resulting in both cars spinning.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 132 caution. The Stewards ruled that the contact off of T2 with Danny Cervantes was no fault of Danny has he was moving up off of corner exit at a reasonable pace and would hold no responsibility in initiating contact. Along those lines, Adam did get loose off of T2 and stopped his progress to the right, and only moved half a car width to the left. While Adam's loose moment was the main contributor to the caution, the Stewards ruled it was not a full loss of control moment and James will only receive a partial caution point for this caution.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 54 protest of contact between John Hopley and Barron Hilton. The Stewards have found John at fault for created contact with Barron off of T2 as Barron has proper overlap and John kept moving to the right, resulting in damage to Barron. Due to the factor of damage and positions effected, John will be charged a penalty point for this review.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Atlanta, John Hopley and William Farmer must not qualify at Bristol.

Race 2: Bristol Dirt

Penalties to be served:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Atlanta, John Hopley and William Farmer must not qualify at Bristol.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 2 caution. The Stewards have found Brandon Walter at fault for getting into the rear of Michael Witt in T3. Due to the nature of the track, this will only be a partial caution point for the contact.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 9 caution. The Stewards have found Barron Hilton at fault for getting into the rear of Adam Zemke in T3. With the distance Barron traveled to create the contact, Barron will be given a full caution point.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 18 caution. The Stewards have ruled that the T3 contact between Matthew Long, Trent Dinkel and Rob Besaw was mainly due to an accordian effect incident and not solely on one of the drivers. This caution will not have a penalty posted to it.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 26 caution. The Stewards ruled that the T2 contact that sent Richard Regan spinning when hit the rear of Connor Hall was due to a loss of momentum that Richard could not slow up for in time. Due to the nature of that contact, there will be no penalty in relation to the spin that brought out the caution. After the spin, the Stewards ruled that Richard unsafely came back up to the track surface and created contact with another vehicle. The Stewards are giving Richard a partial caution point for that ruling.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 33 caution. The Stewards have found Chad Brown at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 43 caution. The spin happened as Barron Hilton go into the rear of Brandon Walter in T4, but that contact was a result of Brandon coming from the top lane to the bottom and creating door contact with Charles Sumner, and then Brandon checking up after that. The Stewards will be giving Brandon a partial point for the initial contact that triggered this incident.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 53 caution. The spin started in T2 with Richard Regan creating contact to the rear of Abner Acosta. While Abner did not lose control in the eyes of the Stewards, his car did lose a big amount of momentum and did not give Richard time to avoid contact. Due to the nature of this contact, the Stewards are ruling this a racing deal and no points will be given.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 70 caution. While Brandon Walters did not lose complete control, the Stewards have ruled that his car was sideways enough in T2 and Michael Witt had no chance to avoid contact. Due to the amount of his slide, Brandon Walter will receive a partial point for this caution.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 79 caution. The Stewards have ruled that no one driver was at fault for this caution as a big accordion event lead to several points of contact. No penalty will be given for this caution.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 2 protest of contact between Trent Dinkel and Joshua Daniels. The Stewards have ruled that the contact was solely on Trent, and will receive a caution point for the damage created.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Bristol, Brandon Walter, Chad Brown, Trent Dinkel, and Barron Hilton must not qualify at Martinsville.
  • For not being in attendance to serve their penalties at Bristol, John Hopley and William Farmer must not qualify at Martinsville.

Race 3: Martinsville

Penalties to be served:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Bristol, Brandon Walter (appealing), Chad Brown, Trent Dinkel, and Barron Hilton must not qualify at Martinsville.
  • For not being in attendance to serve their penalties at Bristol, John Hopley and William Farmer must not qualify at Martinsville.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 2 caution. While the Stewards acknowledge slight netcode contact with Pat Harvey in T2, the Stewards are ruling that Adam Zemke's movement to the right would have lead to contact, though the severity could be questions. For this review, the Stewards are giving Adam a partial caution point.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 23 caution. The Stewards have found Trent Dinkel at fault for getting into the LR of Scotty Johnson entering T1.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 30 caution. The Stewards have found James Duerr at fault for getting into the LR of Trent Dinkel in T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 41 caution. There was 2 different incidents at the same time. One of the spins was Taylor Stout getting a bump from behind due to a long accordion effect. There will be no penalty in the Stout spin due to the check ups and the car behind Taylor not having ample time to react. The other spin, the Stewards have found Michael Witt at fault for getting into the LR of Doug Evans entering T1.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 57 caution. The Stewards have found Luka Zivkov at fault for a self spin off of T4, causing Danny Cervantes to check up and get hit by Patrick Cowgill and spin as well.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 65 caution. The Stewards have found Alex Pellerin at fault for getting into the LR of Patrick Cowgill off of T2.
The Stewards reviewed the 2 incidents that brought out the caution on Lap 77. The Stewards have found Joao Guerra at fault for getting into the rear of Pat Harvey in T3, resulting in a delayed spin. The 2nd spin was Danny Cerventas getting into the rear of Adam Zemke as Pat was sliding and Adam making a slight deceleration. There will be no penalty for the Cervantes contact as the actions happening in front contributed.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 85 caution. The Stewards have found Doug Evans at fault for into the rear of James Duerr in T2.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 91 caution. The Stewards have found Joao Guerra at fault for moving left on a 3 wide situation exiting T2 and created contact with Danny Cervantes, triggering a multicar wreck.
  • There were 2 wrecks at the same time that share responsibility for the Lap 100 caution. The Stewards have found Colton Layne at fault for losing control off T4, triggering a wreck.
Further ahead of the Colton spin (which had no effect of this wreck), the Stewards have found Alex Pellerin at fault for moving right on the frontstretch into Taylor Stout, resulting in a spin. The Stewards are also adding an extra partial point as well to Alex for unsafe maneuvers and continuing the wreck instead of stopping safely, collecting Scotty Johnson while going backwards.
  • There were 2 wrecks at the same time that share responsibility for the Lap 109 caution. The Stewards have found Brandon Walter at fault for hitting the wall on the front stretch on his own, and then going left into Pat Harvey and causing a spin.
Further behind on the track, the Stewards have found Doug Evans at fault for getting into the rear of Patrick Cowgill entering T3.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 123 caution. The Stewards have found Patrick Cowhill at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 134 caution. The Stewards have found Pat Harvey at fault for getting into Luka Zivkov entering T3.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 143 caution. The Stewards have found Colton Layne at fault for getting into Taylor Stout entering T3.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 149 caution. The Stewards have found Alex Pellerin at fault for getting into Waldo Walden entering T1.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 155 caution. While the Stewards acknowledge slight netcode contact with Scotty Johnson in T1, the Stewards are ruling that Luka Zivkov's movement to the right would have lead to contact, though the severity could be questions. For this review, the Stewards are giving Luka a partial caution point.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 162 caution. The Stewards have found Thomas Roberts at fault for moving right and into Trent Dinkel in T3, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the caution on Lap 168. The Stewards have noted that Matthew Long and Rob Besaw were holding steady lines and neither made a move towards one another and that the "contact" between the two was squarely on netcode. No caution point will be given in this review.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For being found at fault for multiple cautions at Martinsville, Alex Pellerin and Joao Guerra must serve a 1 race suspension at Richmond.
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Martinsville, Trent Dinkel, James Duerr, Colton Layne, Pat Harvey, Doug Evans, Michael Witt, Luka Zivkov, Patrick Cowgill and Thomas Roberts must not qualify at Martinsville. Adam Zemke will also receive a qualifying penalty for reaching 1.0 caution points this season.
  • For losing his appeal at Bristol, Brandon Walter may not qualify at Richmond, while also receiving another qualifying penalty for reaching 2.0 points in back to back races (to be served at Talladega).
  • For not being in attendance to serve their penalties from Atlanta, John Hopley and William Farmer must not qualify at Richmond.

Race 4: Richmond

Penalties to be served:

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 8 caution. The Stewards have found Barron Hilton at fault for getting into the rear of Scotty Johnson in T2, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards have reviewed the Lap 16 caution. The Stewards have found Mike Knight at fault for bouncing off the wall exiting T2 of his own accord, and getting into James Duke, resulting in a crash.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 45 caution. The Stewards have found Mike Knight at fault for moving right during the entry into T1 and getting into Terry Marinaro, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 107 caution. The Stewards have noted that the start of the incident was due to Adam Zemke lacking control all the way down the backstretch from the exit of T2, battling wheel spin. Michael Witt had to check up to avoid Adam and was hit from behind my Matt Hilton, which sent Michael into Adam and started the multicar wreck. While Adam did not fully lose control of his car, the Stewards are charging Adam with a partial fault for this caution for not holding a line down the straight away. There is no fault given to Matt for the contact to the rear of Michael as Matt did not have the vision or proper time to avoid contact in the check up.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 116 caution. The Stewards have found Connor Hall at fault for getting into the rear of Richard Regan entering T3, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 122 caution. The Stewards have found Doug Evans at fault for a self spin off of T2.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 160 caution. The Stewards have found Brandon Walter at fault for a self spin in T2.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 168 caution. The Stewards have found Luka Zivkov at fault for getting into Taylor Stout entering T1, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 174 caution. The Stewards have noted that while Abner Acosta was moving right off of T4 while at the bottom of a 3 wide situation, there was a gap netcode during the "contact" with Richard Regan that sent Abner into a spin. No caution point will be given due to the netcode gap.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For being found at fault for multiple cautions at Richmond, Mike Knight must serve a 1 race suspension at Talladega.
  • For accumulating 3.0 penalty points in a 5 race span, Brandon Walter must serve a 1 race suspension at Talladega.
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Richmond, Barron Hilton, Doug Evans, Luka Zivkov, and Connor Hall must not qualify at Talladega.
  • For not serving the qualifying penalty at Richmond, William Farmer may must not qualify at Talladega and Doug Evans must not qualify at Kansas.
  • For not being in attendance to serve their penalties from prior, John Hopley and Trent Dinkle must not qualify at Talladega.

Race 5: Talladega

Penalties to be served:

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 53 caution. The Stewards have found Rob Besaw at fault for moving down into Thomas Roberts in T3.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 89 caution. The Stewards have found William Farmer at fault for coming across the nose of Doug Evans entering T1.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 94 caution in which 2 different incidents were happening at the time of the caution that will share fault for the penalty. The Stewards have found Matt Hilton at fault for getting into the side of Joshua Daniels in T3.
  • While Matt Hilton was having his incident and the yellow had not come out, further down the track in T34, the Stewards have found Joshua Daniels at fault for coming across Chad Brown's nose, resulting in spins.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 52 protest of contact between Abner Acosta and Brad Holly. The Stewards have found Abner at fault for moving left in the trioval and getting into Holly's RR QP, sending Brad directly into the wall and taking severe damage. Because of the maneuver made that lead to contact and the severity of the damage caused, Abner is receiving a full caution point for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 54 protest of contact between John Hopley and Adam Zemke while under caution. The Stewards have ruled that the events leading up to the point where John made contact resulting in some damage to Adam's rear while under caution was not due to a severe check up or slowdown, and that John should have been able to making this contact happen. The Stewards are giving John a partial penalty point for this review.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Talladega, Rob Besaw, William Farmer, and Abner Acosta must not qualify at Kansas.

Race 6: Kansas

Penalties to be served:
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Talladega, Rob Besaw, William Farmer, and Abner Acosta must not qualify at Kansas.
  • For not being in attendance to serve his penalty from a prior race, Connor Hall must not qualify at Kansas.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 2 caution. While the caution was a result of Terry Marinaro getting into the rear of Jose Medina near the exit of T4, there was 2 cars trying to regain control several cars ahead of Terry and Jose that caused a check up event. Due to that accordion check up, the Stewards rule this caution as a racing deal as Terry was in the process of checking up, but the even more sudden drop in speed did not give Terry a proper chance to avoid contact.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 82 caution. The Stewards have found Colton Layne at fault for hitting the wall off of T4 and spinning on the front stretch.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 91 caution. The Stewards have found Ed Fowler at fault for hitting the wall off of T2 and coming down into Brad Holly, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 114 caution. The Stewards have found Luka Zivkov at fault for hitting the wall off of T4 and coming down into Barron Hilton, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 122 caution. The replay shows a netcode incident between William Farmer and Jaymes O'Brien on the backstretch. The Stewards have ruled that neither driver made a move towards one another to warrant any contact, so this caution will be ruled as a result of netcode and no penalty will be given.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 16 protest of contact between Jose Medina and Jaymes O'Brien. While being lapped, Jose tried to move down to the apron entering T1, but ended up washing back up into the track and creating door contact with Jaymes that resulted in damage. The Stewards noted that while Jose was trying to get out of the way, the safest route would have been for Jose to just hold the white line like he was positioned to do originally, and the lead lap cars could have safely gotten around up high. Jose has been ruled at fault for this contact.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For accumulating 3 cautions in a 4 race span, Luka Zivkov must serve a 1 race suspension at Darlington.
  • For receiving a full Caution Point at Kansas, Colton Layne, Ed Fowler, and Jose Medina must not qualify at Darlington
  • For not being in attendance to serve his penalty from a prior race, Connor Hall must not qualify at Darlington.
