On Track Reviews and Procedures

  • On track incidents should be avoided at all costs.
  • On track incidents that result in a caution will be automatically reviewed by the Oval Stewards and will be ruled on 48 hours following the race.
  • On track incidents that do not cause a caution can still be reviewed. Please submit a protest using the Protest Form on the PRL website.
  • Race Start and Caution Restarts will also be reviewed by the Steward team for early 3-wide and Lead Car speed violations.
  • PRL's Racing Rules and iRacing's Sporting Code are in effect for all official races through the season.
  • Stewards will issue a Caution Point value against a driver(s) found at fault for initiating the caution, as well as drivers maneuvering carelessly or recklessly that lead to other drivers getting involved in the caution. Please refer to the Rules Document for a full explanation.
  • Any driver who is issued an EOL start penalty shall not qualify. Drivers caught doing so will be issued a black flag and will have to serve a drive-thru penalty.
  • Any driver who gets DSQ for not serving a black flag during the race will be placed in last and all points will be removed, and the race will not count as a drop week. If you receive a black flag in the final moments of a race and do not have time to serve it, you must contact the race organizers immediately so the appropriate action can be taken.
  • You have the right to Appeal a caution decision if you feel the original ruling was incorrect. Contact will Charles Sumner withing 48 hours of the rulings being posted to Appeal a ruling. The entire Steward Team will review the incident and will cast a vote, in which the majority vote will be the final verdict. Losing an Appeal will place a 30-day restriction in place where you may not Appeal a verdict again.

Race 1: Atlanta

Penalties to be served:
  • None

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 2 caution. The Stewards have found Michel Gagnon at for getting loose off of T2, going completely on the apron on the back stretch, and coming back up on the racing surface and hitting Brett Accord, causing a wreck.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 37 caution. The Stewards have found James Duke at fault for getting loose entering T1 and making contact with Barron Hilton, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 42 caution. The Stewards have found Michel Gagnon at fault for initiating contact in T1 with Brett Adams, which sent Michel up the track. Michel then came down across the nose of Patrick Cowgill, which resulted in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 14 protest of contact between Brett Adams and Patrick Cowgill. As the driver's were exiting T2, Patrick was going to make a move to the outside of Brett as the cars were naturally going up towards the wall on exit. As Patrick approached the quaterpanel of Brett, there was noticeable netcode "contact" that sent Patrick out of shape. Due to the netcode, no penalty will be awarded in this review.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For being charged at fault in 2 cautions in one race, Michel Gagnon will serve a 1 race suspension at Watkins Glen.
  • For being charged at fault for a caution, James Duke will not be allowed to qualify at Watkins Glen.

Race 3: Rockingham

Penalties to be served:
  • For being charged at fault for a caution, James Duke will not be allowed to qualify at Rockingham.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 1 caution. The Stewards have found Trent Dinkel at fault for clipping the apron on the exit of T2 and spinning, which also resulted in a check up event that lead to other cars making contact as well.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 12 caution. While exiting T4, Danny Cerventes was to the outside of Brandon Walter as they positioned themselves for their exit. Danny got loose and caught his car, which resulted in him no longer pushing out towards the wall. Brandon was still moving more towards the wall expecting Danny to be further out, not knowing Danny got loose. This caused both cars to come together and triggered a wreck. The Stewards have ruled that both drivers share responsibility in this caution and will split the caution point.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 46 caution. The Stewards have found Jose Medina at fault as he hit the wall coming off of T2, and bounced into Michael Witt, causing a wreck.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 56 caution. Coming off of T2, Brenden Chatley was moving left away from the wall when netcode contact with Brett Adams occurred, triggering a wreck. While the Stewards note Brenden moving left, the size of the gap and the cars trajectories make it unsure to say that contact would have 100% still happened. Due to that ruling, this caution is being declared fault of netcode and no point will be given.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 65 caution. Due to a move in front of him, Scotty Johnson had to check up in T1, which triggered an accordion accident in which Colton Layne got into the back of Scotty and spun him. The Stewards ruled that Colton did not have adequate time to avoid the contact, thus this is being ruled a racing deal and no point will be awarded to any driver.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 146 caution. The Stewards have found James Duke at fault for hitting the wall on the backstretch by his own doing, and bouncing into Craig Holden, triggering a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 122 protest of contact between Brett Acord and Brenden Chatley entering T1. The Stewards have found Brett at fault for the contact as he made a dive into corner entry and initiated contact with Brenden, which resulted in damage. Brett will be given a partial point for this review.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For being charged at fault for a caution at Rockingham, the following drivers must not qualify at Texas: Trent Dinkel, Jose Medina, James Duke.

Race 4: Texas

Penalties to be served:
  • For being charged at fault for a caution at Rockingham, the following drivers must not qualify at Texas: Trent Dinkel, Jose Medina, James Duke.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 86 caution. The Stewards have found Richard Regan at fault for getting into the rear of Bradley Holly in T3, which resulted in a wreck.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 94 caution. The Stewards have found Rob Besaw at fault for losing of control off 4, hitting the wall, and then coasting in the middle of the track and impeded Brandon Walter, which lead to the accident.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 103. During a check up event from contact between Joshua Daniels and Adam Zemke, the cars behind stacked up 3 wide with Charles Sumner in the middle and Mark Kaelin high against the wall. As Mark was moving to the left towards Charles, there was a sizable gap of netcode that resulted in Charles getting sent into the wall and spinning back down the track. Due to the size of the netcode, the Stewards can not say with 100% certainty that contact would have happened between Charles and Mark. No penalty is being given in this review due to the netcode.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For being charged at fault for a caution at Texas, the following drivers must not qualify at World Wide: Richard Regan, Rob Besaw.

Race 6: North Wilksborou

Penalties to be served:
  • For being charged at fault for a caution at World Wide, the following drivers must not qualify at Wilksboro: Trent Dinkle, Pat Harvey, Joshua Daniels

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 22 caution. The Stewards have found James Duerr at fault for getting into the LR of Jose Medina on the entrance of T3, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 34 caution. The Stewards have found Michael Witt at fault for a self spin on the exit of T4. The Stewards also reviewed James Duerr's late involvement into the caution. After reviewing his in car camera, the Stewards rule that James' vision was blocked of the spin car and he did not have time to react once the car in front of him moved, revealing Michael's car sideways on the front stretch.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 68 caution. The Stewards have found Danny Cervantes at fault for getting into the LR of Rob Besaw in the apex of T3/4, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 77 caution. The Stewards have found Trent Dinkle at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 88 caution. The Stewards have found Barron Hilton at fault for a self spin entering T3.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 96 caution. The Stewards have found Colton Layne at fault for bouncing off the backstretch wall and into Trent Dinkle, causing Dinkle to do a half spin and have to stop on the track.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 124 caution. The Stewards have found James Duerr at fault for moving left across the nose of Trent Dinkle on the backstretch, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 140 caution. The Stewards have found Pat Harvey at fault for loosing control and spinning in T1.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 160 caution. The Stewards have found Rob Besaw at fault for getting into the LR of Trent Dinkle on the exit of T4, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 166 caution. The Stewards have ruled that the start of the multicar accident started with contact from Abner Acosta getting into the rear of Trent Dinkle, then having to slow down and getting hit in the rear by Colton Layne. Because of the close proximity of all cars involved and none of the drivers making an error to trigger this other than the slight touch Abner made to Trent, the Stewards will penalize Abner Acosta with a partial caution point for contact.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 174 caution. The incident started with a check up event between Doug Evens and Colton Layne which did not give David Wilson time to avoid contact with the rear of Colton. After that contact, David slide down across the nose of Barron Hilton, causing both cars to crash into the inside wall. There is no penalty to David for this caution due to the accordion/check up in front of him that did not give him ample time.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 214 caution. There was a 3 wide situation with Brandon Walter in the middle and Mike Knight on the outside being lapped. As the cars positioned themselves on the straightaway, there was sizeable netcode contact that turned Brandon across the nose of Mike, resulting in a half spin and the caution. Due to the size of the netcode however, there will be no penalty for this caution.
  • The Stewards reviewed a protest of contact on Lap 111 with Patrick Cowgill and Joshua Daniels in T4 as Patrick slowed to enter pit road. The Stewards have ruled that there was a sizable netcode gap between the 2 cars and that contact should not have happened. There will be no penalty with a ruling of netcode in this review.
On the Lap 165 restart, the Stewards are assessing a partial caution point to Connor Hall for forcing an unnecessary 3 wide before T1.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For being charged at fault for a caution at Wilksboro, the following drivers must not qualify at Kentucky: Rob Besaw, Pat Harvey, Danny Cervantes, Barron Hilton, Colton Layne, and Michael Witt.
  • For being charged with 2 cautions at Wilksboro, James Duerr will serve a 1 race suspension.
  • For being charged 3 cautions in a 5 race span, Trent Dinkle will serve a 1 race suspension.

Race 8: Daytona Oval

Penalties to be served:
  • For being charged at fault for a caution at Kansas, Chad Brown must not qualify at Daytona.
  • Colton Layne also has a do not qualify penalty not served from last week.

Cautions/Protests Reviewed:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 4, caution. The Stewards have found Doug Evans at fault for getting loose and coming down into Mike Knight in T1.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 14 caution. There was a chain reaction wreck that happened in T1/2, which the start of stemmed from sizable netcode between Michael Witt and Brandon Walter. No penalty will be given due to netcode.
  • There were 2 incidents that happened at the same time on Lap 57 to bring out the caution. Colton Layne lost control while on the apron in T1 after leaving pit road, the same time Chad Brown creating contact with Brett Adams on the front stretch, resulting in a spin. Colton and Chad will share equal responsibility for this caution.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 69 caution. The Stewards have ruled that due to spacing between David Wilson and Connor Hall, and then the way David's car clipped through Connor's, that this incident will be ruled as netcode and no penalty will be given.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Last Lap wreck. The Stewards have found Mark Kaelin at fault for getting into the LR of Scotty Johnson in T2, triggering a wreck.
  • The Stewards have ruled that during the L69 caution, Barron Hilton did not slow up enough while approaching the wreck on the backstretch, leading to critical damage to another driver. Due to smoke limiting some visibility, the Stewards are given a partial point to Barron for this review.

Penalties to be Served for the next race:
  • For being charged at fault for a caution at Daytona Oval, Doug Evans and Mark Kaelin must not qualify at Daytona Road.
