On Track Reviews and Procedures

  • On track incidents should be avoided at all costs.
  • On track incidents that result in a caution will be automatically reviewed by the Oval Stewards and will be ruled on 48 hours following the race.
  • On track incidents that do not cause a caution can still be reviewed. Please submit a protest using the Protest Form on the PRL website.
  • Race Start and Caution Restarts will also be reviewed by the Steward team for early 3-wide and Lead Car speed violations.
  • PRL's Racing Rules and iRacing's Sporting Code are in effect for all official races through the season.
  • Stewards will issue a Caution Point value against a driver(s) found at fault for initiating the caution, as well as drivers maneuvering carelessly or recklessly that lead to other drivers getting involved in the caution. Please refer to the Rules Document for a full explanation.
  • Any driver who is issued an EOL start penalty shall not qualify. Drivers caught doing so will be issued a black flag and will have to serve a drive-thru penalty.
  • Any driver who gets DSQ for not serving a black flag during the race will be placed in last and all points will be removed, and the race will not count as a drop week. If you receive a black flag in the final moments of a race and do not have time to serve it, you must contact the race organizers immediately so the appropriate action can be taken.
  • You have the right to Appeal a caution decision if you feel the original ruling was incorrect. Contact will Charles Sumner withing 48 hours of the rulings being posted to Appeal a ruling. The entire Steward Team will review the incident and will cast a vote, in which the majority vote will be the final verdict. Losing an Appeal will place a 30-day restriction in place where you may not Appeal a verdict again.

Race 1: Bristol

Steward Rulings:

  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 4 caution. The Stewards have found Richard Regan at fault for moving to the right across the nose of Keith Haney on the exit of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 56 caution. The Stewards have found Brandon Adams at fault for getting into the wall on the exit of T4. While the wall contact did not cause a loss of control, it did not give Colton Layne time to check up and avoid contact with the rear of Brandon. Due to creating the check up event, the Stewards are issuing a partial caution poin to Brandon.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 87 caution. The Stewards have found Rob Besaw at fault for getting loose off of the exit of T4 and creating contact with Danny Cervantes.
  • The Stewards reviewed a protest of intentional contact under caution on Lap 88 between James Duke and Brett Adams. The Stewards have ruled that James Duke did make purposeful and unnecessary contact while under caution that resulted in a 4x. Due to this breach of the PRL's Code of Conduct, James Duke will be issued a 1 race suspension.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 93 caution. The Stewards have found Richard Regan at fault for losing control of his vehicle in T3/4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 132 caution. The lead up to the caution was a 3 wide situation with Doyle Lowrance as a lapped car on the high side on the exit of T4. Doyle (lapped at the time) lifted in an attempt to avoid contact with Colton Layne and give room to the lead lap car the was close to making contact. That lift did not give Brenden Chatley adequate time to avoid contact with the rear of Doyle, which resulted in a spin. Due to the chain reaction nature of this incident with non the drivers making a move that the Stewards deemed worthy of a penalty, no caution point will be issued for this caution.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 141 caution. The Stewards have found Colton Layne at fault for getting loose off of the exit of T4 and creating contact with Rob Besaw.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 148 caution. The Stewards have found Chad Brown at fault for moving left on the backstretch and creating contact with Derek Schilling. While at fault for the contact, the Stewards noted that Derek's car acted in a drastic matter that was not consistent with the contact that was created. Due to that ruling, Chad Brown will only receive a partial caution point for the contact created.
  • The Stewards reviewed the caution on the Lap 153 caution. The Stewards have found Greg Korzen at fault for creating wheel spin on a down shift, that lead to a chain reaction event. The Stewards have also found Greg at fault for not holding his brakes while spun around and allowing his car to drift back up the track and create contact with other vehicles. The Stewards are issuing Greg Korzen a full caution point for both actions combined in this caution.
  • Warning for unnecessary (argumentative) comms during the race: Richard Regan, Keith Haney, James Duke

Penalties to be served next race:
  • For actions against PRL's Code of Conduct, James Duke will serve a 1 race suspension at Las Vegas.
  • For being charges with 2 cautions in one race, Richard Regan will serve a 1 race suspension at Las Vegas.
  • The following drivers were charged with a full caution at Bristol and must not qualify at Las Vegas: Colton Layne, Greg Korze and Robert Besaw

Race 2: Las Vegas

Penalties Served:

  • For actions against PRL's Code of Conduct, James Duke will serve a 1 race suspension at Las Vegas.
  • For being charges with 2 cautions in one race, Richard Regan will serve a 1 race suspension at Las Vegas.
  • The following drivers were charged with a full caution at Bristol and must not qualify at Las Vegas: Colton Layne, Greg Korzen and Robert Besaw
Steward Rulings for Vegas:
  • The Steward reviewed the Lap 6 caution. On the exit of T2, Derek Schilling was on the low side of Ron Overbay. As they both let the cars drift up on exit, Ron straightened out a car width from the wall, which he has the straight to do. Derek made contact with the LR of Ron, and then proceeded to lose control of his car going down to the apron, then back up onto the track, but not spinning. Due to the nature of the contact and that Derek never did spin, the Stewards are only awarding a partial caution point to Derek.
  • During the event above as Derek was trying to save his sliding car, the Stewards have ruled that Greg Korzen did not take an appropriate action to avoid contact with Derek on the backstretch and contributed to the caution. The Stewards are issuing Greg a partial caution point for this contact.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 25 caution. The Stewards have found Paul Johnson at fault for getting loose off of T2, and creating contact with Joshua Daniels, which resulted in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 32 caution. The Stewards have found Chad Brown at fault for losing control of his car off of the exit of T4 and spinning into other cars.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 52 caution. The Stewards have found Brenden Chatley at fault for hitting the wall on the exit of T2 and then creating contact with Charles Sumner that resulted in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 30 restart and have found Chad Brown in violation for an unnecessary 3 wide before T1.
Penalties to be served at Talladega:
  • The following drivers were charged with a full caution at Vegas and must not qualify at Talladega: Paul Johnson, Chad Brown and Brenden Chatley.

Race 3: Talladega

Penalties Served:

  • The following drivers were charged with a full caution at Vegas and must not qualify at Talladega: Paul Johnson, Chad Brown and Brenden Chatley.
Steward Rulings for Talladega:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 54 caution. The Stewards have noted that there was initial contact between Richard Regan and Brett Adams coming out of the trioval, and that both drivers were slowly drifting towards each other and share that responsibility. That contact then lead to door to door contact between Richard and Scotty Johnson. During this time, none of the drivers involved lost total control of their vehicle nor reacted in an overly fashion. During the door to door contact, Brett's car had a very sizable gap between himself and Richard, and then spun instantly as if he was tagged in the LR quarter panel by Richard. Due to the size of the netcode and the fact that all drivers stayed in a reasonable manner as actual contact did happen, the Stewards are ruling this as a netcode caused caution and none of the drivers involved will receive a caution point.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Last lap wreck. The Stewards have found Christopher Williams at fault for getting into the RR of Keith Haney coming to the checkered flag, triggering an incident.

Penalties to be served at Roval:
  • The following drivers were charged with a full caution at Talladega and must not qualify at Roval: Christopher Williams

Race 5: Kansas

Penalties Served:

  • No penalties to be served,
Steward Rulings for Kansas:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 4 caution. The Stewards have found Brandon Adams at fault for bouncing off the wall entering T1 under his own accord, then creating contact with Doyle Lawrance, triggering a multicar accident.
  • During the Lap 4 caution, The Stewards have found Ronald Overbay at fault for failing to react in a safe manner, and creating contact with vehicles as they attempted to check up for the wreck. Due to the contact effecting multiple cars, the Stewards are issuing Ronald a full caution point for this review.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 22 caution. Coming out of T2, Robert Korzen suffered a blown engine. Robert safely and timely got his truck deep into the apron area and parked, towing back to the pits in a fast manner. However, the game threw the caution for the 2 seconds he was stationary. The Stewards did not see fault in Robert's actions and will not charge him for the caution. Moving forward, the Stewards are asking the entire league to please attempt to make it to pit road if you find yourself in this type of a situation and to not give the sim a chance to throw an unneeded caution.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 40 caution. The Stewards have found Patrick Cowgill at fault for moving left across the nose of James Duerr on the front stretch, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 61 caution. The Stewards have found Derek Schilling at fault for getting loose off of the exit ofT4, and creating contact with Ronald Overbay, resulting in a spin.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 77 caution. Coming out of T2 after exiting pit road and not up to speed, Ronald Overbay suffered a blown engine. Robert safely and timely got his truck deep into the apron area and parked, towing back to the pits in a fast manner. However, the game threw the caution for the 2 seconds he was stationary. The Stewards did not see fault in Ronald's actions and will not charge him for the caution. Moving forward, the Stewards are asking the entire league to please attempt to make it to pit road if you find yourself in this type of a situation and to not give the sim a chance to throw an unneeded caution.

Race 6: Texas

Penalties Served:

  • The following drivers were charged with a full caution at Kansas and must not qualify at Texas: Brandon Adams (not in attendance), Patrick Cowgill, Ronald Overbay and Derek Schilling
Steward Rulings for Texas:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 37 caution. The Stewards have found James Duke at fault for getting into the wall exiting T2 and spinning.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 44 caution. The Stewards have found James Duerr at fault for getting loose off of T2 and creating a situation where Doyle Lowrance could not avoid making contact. Due to the Stewards not being able to judge if James would have fully lost it on his own, James will only be charged a partial caution for creating a check-up event that lead to the contact.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 58 caution. The Stewards have found Robert Korzen at fault for getting into the wall exiting T2 and spinning.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 76 caution. The Stewards have determined that netcode in T3 was the leading factor in the accident between Mark Kaelin and Patrick Cowgill as they were side by side, and neither driver making a move towards one another that warranted contact like actions. No caution point will be given in this caution.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 81 caution. The Stewards have determined that a very unrealistic netcode contact between Bradley Holly and Chad Brown (who was half a car length behind Holly) triggered a massive wreck as the field was packed together on a restart on the exit of T2. Due to the nature of the netcode and the unrealistic actions of Joshua Daniel's and Chad Brown's cars going flying and causing actions from other drivers, no penalties at all will be given in this whole encounter.
Penalties to be served at Martinsville:
  • The following drivers were charged with a full caution at Texas and must not qualify at Martinsville: Brandon Adams (from Kansas), James Duke and Robert Korzen.

  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 6 caution. The Stewards have found Patrick Cowgill at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 14 caution. The Stewards have found Nick Schwartz at fault for a self spin off of T4.

  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 33 caution. The Stewards have found Derek Schilling at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed a Lap 35 protest of contact between Jose Medina and Patrick Cowgill. The contact happened enter T3 as Jose was thinking about pitting, and then returned back to the track surface. The Stewards have found that Jose never did fully leave the track surface, but was going slower than pacing speed as the contact happened as Patrick was trying to get by thinking he was pitting. The Stewards have ruled that both drivers could have acted better to avoid the contact, and that since they were the only ones effected, this is ruled a racing deal between them.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 41 caution. The Stewards have found Danny Cerventes at fault for creating contact with Doyle Lowrance entering T3.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 46 restart caution. The Stewards have found James Duerr at fault for a wheelspin induced spin on the restart.

Also, James Duke and Robert Korzen from EOLs not served at Martinsville.
  • For causing 2 cautions at Martinsville, James Duerr will serve a 1 race suspension at Phoenix.
Steward Rulings for Martinsville:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 22 caution. The Stewards have found Ronald Overbay at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 41 caution. The Stewards have found Barron Hilton at fault for a self spin off of T2.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 52 caution. The Stewards have found Jose Medina at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 63 caution. The Stewards have found Doyle Lowrance at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 71 caution. The Stewards have found Brett Adams at fault for a self spin off of T4.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 78 caution. The Stewards have found Jaymes O'Brien at fault for making contact with Paul Johnson in the apex of T1/2 that sent Paul sliding in the turn. While Jaymes is at fault for the contact, the Stewards have ruled that due to Paul's save of the sliding car, the caution really should not have came out since he kept his speed up and the car was not more than 60 degrees sideways. Due to that ruling, Jaymes will only receive a partial penalty point for creating contact.
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 85 caution. The Stewards noted that both Charles Sumner and Scotty Johnson both spun at identical times in separate incidents coming off of T4. Due to the absolute identical nature of the spins, both Charles and Scotty will share responsibility in this caution.

Penalties to be served at Martinsville:
  • The following drivers were charged with a full caution at Phoenix and must not qualify at Homestead: Ronald Overbay, Barron Hilton, Jose Medina, Doyle Lowrance, and Brett Adams. Also, James Duke, Robert Korzen, Brandon Adams, Derek Schilling and Stacy Hunter must not qualify due to penalties from previous races and haven't been in attendance to serve.
Steward Rulings for Homestead:
  • The Stewards reviewed the Lap 66 caution. Going into T1, the Stewards have noted that while he did not go to the bottom lane, Jose Medina did hold a steady line throughout the entry of the turn and did not drift up the track. While Jose ran that line, the Stewards ruled that Richard Regan turned down as if he was expecting Jose to go to the white line, and that turn down initiated the contact that lead to Richard's spin. The Stewards have ruled that Richard Regan is at fault for this caution.

Penalties to be served at Martinsville:
  • The following driver was charged with a full caution at Homestead and must not qualify at Homestead: Richard Regan. Also, Barron Hilton, Robert Korzen, Derek Schilling and Stacy Hunter must not qualify due to penalties from previous races and haven't been in attendance to serve.
