As the lights went out the grid was full and spirits were high, but as the race carried on we saw track temperatures top 120 degrees! The dirty air and short shifting would eventually take its toll, and before it was all said and done no less than four drivers would blow their engines leading to a shuffle in the standings as the laps dwindled down.
But the day belonged to Thursday newcomer Lucas Loyarte! Poor communication from the pit crew of the #74 car of Greg Seitz saw him run out of laps and miss his opportunity to take the fight to P1. Loyarte’s race win brings him even with Seitz in the driver’s championship, as the Sam Blacklock Media Racing Team inches closer to Team Sleepy in the Team championship battle.
An impressive P5 finish for the #17 car of Jerome Berthiaume and P9 result of Bannana Split Racing Team mate Danny Duchesne brings the yellow car within 1 point of midfield rivals White Flag Racing, who after two trips to pit lane managed to finish with 32 combined points overtaking Blown Tranny Racing for 5th place in the team standings.
The season is just warming up, with eight races to go anything can happen. So be sure to tune in next week when we visit fan favorite Mid-O!!!
