Caution Reviews, Protests and Appeals

Post by Hootius » Sat Nov 09, 2019 6:58 pm

On Track Reviews and Procedures
  1. On track incidents should be avoided at all costs.
  2. On track incidents that result in a caution will be automatically reviewed by the PRL Chief Oval Steward and will be ruled on immediately following the race.
  3. On track incidents that do not cause a caution can still be reviewed. Please message Charles Sumner via PM on Discord within 30 minutes of the end of the race. If Charles is not present for the race, please contact one of the other Organizers.
  4. Race Start and Caution Restarts will also be reviewed by the Steward team for early 3-wide violations.
  5. PRL's Racing Rules and iRacing's Sporting Code are in effect for all official races through the season.
  6. Stewards will issue a caution point value against a driver(s) found at fault for initiating the caution, as well as drivers maneuvering carelessly or recklessly that lead to other drivers getting involved in the caution. The standard is 1 point per caution, however the Stewards have the right to issue a larger point value if the action that started the incident was deemed to be a Major infraction. No points will be assessed if Netcode if ruled to be the deciding factor.
  7.            *6A. If a driver is found at fault, or partially at fault of multiple cautions (or protest) in the same race, the later event will be charge extra points than it normally would otherwise.*6B. If a driver is found at fault, or partially at fault for a caution (or protest) in consecutive races, the later event will be charge extra points than it normally would otherwise.Any driver assessed 2 caution points within a 3 race period (rolling timeline), will be ordered to start from the rear of the field for the next race. Any driver assessed 3 caution points within a 5 race period (rolling timeline), will be suspended for 1 race (which will not go towards a bye week). Any driver assessed 5 cautions points during the duration of the season will be parked for the remainder of the season.
  8. Any driver who is issued an EOL start penalty shall not qualify. Drivers caught doing so will be issued a black flag and will be disqualified.
  9. Any driver who gets DSQ for not serving a black flag during the race will be placed in last and all points will be removed, and the race will not count as a drop week. If you receive a black flag in the final moments of a race and do not have time to serve it, you must contact the race organizers so the appropriate action can be taken.
  10. You have the right to Appeal a caution decision if you feel the original ruling was incorrect. Contact will Charles Sumner withing 48 hours of the end of the race if you wish to Appeal a ruling. The entire Steward Team will review the incident and will cast a vote, in which the majority vote will be the final verdict. Losing an Appeal will place a 30-day restriction in place where you may not Appeal a verdict again.

Due to the nature of slowing down and cutting down the track in front of lead lap cars while a lap down, and addition 0.5 caution point is being added to this ruling.
  3. The Stewards reviewed the Lap 41 caution. The Stewards have acknowledged a distance of net code between John Labaff and Tristan Callahan, but have ruled that John's trajectory was sending him into Tristan regardless. Due to both factors, the Stewards are only awarding a 0.5 point for this caution.
  4. The Stewards reviewed a protest of contact while under the Lap 41 caution. The Stewards have found Mike Burnett at fault for not slowing up enough and getting into the rear of Austin Hunter. Because the Stewards can not say which driver triggered the caution first, both drivers will split the caution penalty for this review.

  6. The Stewards reviewed the Lap 56 restart and have found Daniel Knight guilty of an early unnecessary 3-wide before T1. The Stewards note that Rachel Hunt and Kristopher Burnham made minor temporary 3-wides, but backs out on the entry of T1 and did not advance positions, and are just issued warnings on this occasion.

The Stewards are adding an addition partial penalty for this occurrence.
  5. The Stewards have reviewed the Lap 1 caution. The Stewards have found Kristopher Burnham at fault for creating contact with the rear of Jarred Mogard in T4. After appeal, the Stewards recognize that Mogard had to check up hard as he was about to slide into Bradley Holly in T4, though the consensus is that Burnham could have done an appropriate job of letting up more to avoid the rear contact to Mogard. With that decision, Burnham will be charged with .5 point for this caution.
