Paint Schemes: Custom Numbers ***ANNOUNCEMENT***

Post by fotors3 » Wed Mar 13, 2019 10:43 pm

Hello all,
As you may or may not know, iRacing has implemented a feature to allow custom numbers in hosted and league sessions. What does this do for us? If you have a cool number you want to use, you can put it on your paint scheme instead of having the game do it for you.

Basically, here's what you'll need to do.

First, whether you made your scheme or had someone make the scheme, make sure the numbers are put on your paint and your TGA looks something like this.

Next, if you don't have it already download Trading Paints. Here is the link: https://www.tradingpaints.com/

That program needs to run during your races so that your paint and everyone else's paint shows up on your screen.

Next, on Trading Paints, go to your My Paints tab, then select the car you want to change the paint for.

Click on Choose Paint and Upload Personal Paint.

After the scheme uploads, hop into the server and make sure your Trading Paints program is running.

You may need to hit CTRL+R to refresh your scheme. If all goes well your scheme will appear on your car with no iRacing stamped number. Looks good huh?

Now what I need to remind you guys of is this: You must still have the car number you signed up for selected as normal. I.e. I need to have 99 for my car. Despite what is on your scheme itself, if you're not signed up for a race using the correct car number, you will be penalized. Please make sure your schemes match! We are testing this out in the Sunday series before we look ahead to other series for implementation. If any of this sounds confusing, please PM me or ask here.

Is there a way to turn this off to where I can just use the iRacing numbers and the schemes?

Basically a setting to ignore this change?

Unfortunately no. Tonight was trying to test that. Honestly, we are probably just going to turn this off and use iRacing numbers. We will make an official announcement very soon.

I'm not sure if we're going back to iracing numbers this week but if we are, the paint cars (number option for leagues) is still disabled meaning iracing won't generate the numbers. Just a heads up

I'll holler at Jerome. Were turning the feature off and just using iRacing numbers for the time being.
