Rule change for next season

Post by SharkV » Wed May 02, 2018 10:00 am

Hi,

We will drop the fast repair for next season.   We hope that we will have less incident at race starts.

I agree with this...possibly having a lower limit of incidents may be an option to discourage reckless behavior

Yep....good move. No need for an incident count as reckless behavior without a fast repair will likely have a big enough impact on a race to discourage future reckless behavior.

I agree with this. Nothing against Ben or Christian, but no fast repairs could open up the championship as well. Both had issue this race, so could bring more people into the championship race.
On another note, for the longer races, Id prefer to not up the fuel count and make it into a 2 stop race. Would add a little more strategy, and potentially more excitement.

I agree with Richie. Keep the fuel limit fixed for the entire season. It will add an element of strategy.

Hi,

We will keep the incident limit as it is. With no FR, if you get a 4x, your race will probably done...also, there are tracks, like spa COTA, that you can get lots of little of tracks and get 1x and don't have an advantage doing so....

For fuel, I agree, that we should keep it fixed, no matter how long races are.

I know there is not a democracy about this point, but my opinions are:

Keep the Fast Repair: Most of the time you are affected for somebody else, but it certainly can lower the reckless behavior
Keep (or lower) the amount of fuel: 2 pitstops races will be even more fun
Incident Limit: set it up 25% lower and proportional to race length.

Guys, what about the calendar for season 13?
I propose to follow the IMSA at least 60% of tracks, and the other 40% (or less) under survey.

Regarding the schedule, I would suggest to still follow IMSA series. As you can all see, this season is VERY popular and we even had to refuse driver to join the series. We may even think about asking a minimum licence requirement and safety rating. I don't want to make a lot of changes because we are on a very good vibe :)

I agree on staying with the IMSA schedule which is now being submitted to I Racing.
Please drop Lime Rock though.
And there's only 1 60 minute race which is Watkins Glen

While I do see the benefits of following the IMSA scheduled for those that race the IMSA, it also seems redundant in a sense.  If people want to race IMSA tracks, they can go race the IMSA schedule.  PRL should (IMO) have it's own schedule and stand out on its own.  There are plenty of fantastic courses that we do not race, Phillip Island and Suzuka are some examples.

The competition this season is better than last season, if that is due to following the IMSA schedule that's great.  I would rather see PRL stand on it's own than piggy back off of something else.  I would rather see a split schedule, follow some of the IMSA schedule but add some of the more prestigious tracks not on the IMSA schedule.  Of course I have bias because I only have limited time to practice.

I wouldn't want to be the one making that decision, simply because no matter what PRL decides to do, it's not going to please all the participants.

The only other thing I would like to add is that if we are going to follow the IMSA schedule is that we have a pole as to which tracks we run. As in what weeks we want to drop. There are 12 official weeks of racing, yet we only run 10.
So the less popular tracks could be dropped even if it allows a week off of league racing.

I disagree, while it's nice they give us a race to drop, it's not fair to the guys who show up every week and race.  Final results could be altered because one guy drops a DNS while another guy who races every week drops 20 points.

That's not always a good indicator. The person who was causing issues with his driving has good IR & SR.
What I've seen in the past when thinking about running in an Oval league is qualifying sessions before the start of the season to weed out potential problem drivers

I never said anything about not having a drop race. I said we could vote on which of the 2 official IMSA races to be removed from the 12 races. Resulting in 10 PRL races.

I will talk to organiser, but its sure we can remove less popular circuit and replace it.

Regarding the poll, we can't do that as iRacing reveal their schedule way too late... Usually, we have it a week before the season start which mean we do not have a lot of time to make a poll.

With respect, that is not true. This is the schedule, as Rey (who sets up IMSA) announced it already on Craig's Setup Shop Discord:
